Editorial Review:
Amazon.ca Preview: Xbox editor Mike Fehlauer said this game looks like Halo, and I think he meant it as a compliment. Most of the game is played in the first-person view through Samus's visor, which offers both heads-up display and scanner abilities, but Samus can also roll up into a ball to negotiate tight spots. What's really cool is that the game shifts to a third-person trailing perspective in this mode, which helps refresh the gameplay. Metroid Prime has some original weapons, such as the grapple beam, wave beam, and freeze beam, and the Big N is promising loads of others, too. The game looked great at the show, but we didn't have enough time to really get used to the controls. --Porter B. Hall

...and the game speaks for itself. This is one of those adventures that you will always remember. It has the feeling that Zelda: Ocarina of Time had when you first booted it up. You suddenly realize durring the introduction, that you will be able to explore this massive world at your own leasure. The controls may be funky at first, but stick with them and you'll slowly realize that they make sense. The story is certainly epic, but isn't told through glorious cutscenes, but rather, by the same way an archeologist finds an epic story. The game is based around exploration, puzzle solving, and larger then life boss fights. There will be times when you are stumped either by a puzzle, or just by the sheer size of the world. If you're into adventure, ... Read More:

This is a must have game for the Nintendo Gamecube system, the graphics are amazing, the game play is amazing, just overall this game is amazing. I was never a fan of the old Metroid games, but I had to try this once since it is in 1st person, and what a huge difference. Like other Metroid games you have to go around and collect things and upgrade your power suit to move on to the the next world. If you have a Nintendo Gamecube, you have to have this game (and the sequel)

This game is the greatest 1st person shooter/Adventure (in my opinion) for the Nintendo gamcube.

First of all, let me say that I agree with what the other reviewers have said so far. The gameplay is great, and the controls are fairly intuitive once you get used to them. (just a minor problem where I keep hitting the wrong button and switching into morph ball mode when I try to fire too fast)
The only problem I have with this game is that there are too many points at which you are left asking "now what? Where am I supposed to go?" it would have been nice if the hint system didn't point you to an area you can't reach 'til you get a particular upgrade. I wish it would point me to the upgrade first. But this game is definitely worth the money.

All I have to say is, go and pick this game up if you haven't already. You're missing out on lots! This game has great graphics, great sound, and great gameplay. I was impressed! I would say this is a MUST OWN for the Gamecube. It's worth every bit of your hard earned dollars! Check out its review at www.ign.com
It's definitely not a game that you can buzz through in record time as some of the puzzles can prove to be rather challenging, not to mention some of the bosses. I've logged in just over 20 hours of play. It would be more if you want to complete 100% of the game, which is fairly challenging. If you get stuck, then look up a guide on gamefaqs.com and you'll be on your way. I know I got stuck a few times in Metroid Prime.
