 Rating:  - A shame about the interface ...I like DnD. I play the pen and paper. I play DDO. I played through all the Gold box and Bioware titles. This was so close to a home run, except the interface cripples the game. Game play and scenarios are true to 3.5 rules set. The rules accuracy makes the game a great tactical experience. In fact I prefer the combat here, to Final Fantasy Tactics. Spell effects and combat feats are all faithfully reproduced. The interface is the downfall of the game. To carry out any simple action you have to navigate through at least three drop down menus, and look for your action related modifiers you may want to add to it. I have been playing sporadically with the game for several weeks and believe the reviewers to be unfair. Admittedly, the learning curve is very steep. This is not a game for people who just pick up a game without looking at the manual. It is a remarkably faithful and detailed implementation of the authentic D & D 3.5 rules. The game experience is the very opposite of the Diablo experience. Personally, I find it to be a refreshing change. However, don't get this game unless you are prepared to make a considerable investment in mastering the interface and the strategic requirements. |
