This book was very disappointing. I LOVE to cook, and found the recipes were very labour intensive (all that puree-ing, even for someone who loves to be in the kitchen...give me a break!). The foods I prepared were ixnayed by my kids, and my husband who eats almost anything wasn't so impressed either. I wish I could return it, but I've thrown out my receipt. Anyway, what I've learned from this is that yes, we all want our families to eat healthier foods. How do we accomplish this? Set the example by eating it ourselves, keep serving it to them (not hiding it, just making it really yummy!), and eventually they will follow suit. And if they grow up and hate broccoli? No problem, as long as they eat their carrots : )

This book was simply addictive and is written beautifully! Jeannette Walls has a way of recalling her childhood with such intricate detail to unfold such an inspriational pieice. This book is definiately worth the time & the money! Her memoir allows her readers to appreciate what they have in life and to never give up even when faced with hardship. Pick up the book - you will never regret it!!!

Wow this book was a book everyone should read. Elissa wall had a very hard child hood. at age 14 when i was enjoying school and playing this little girl was married
and abused. I think this book is a real eye opener. elisa
is a very strong girl to get out and get help. i hope that there is a follow up to this next year speaking about how she lives raising her children and be with her
real husband.

I checked this book out of library when my first child was a baby. I now use AskDrSears.com website. This book is very comprehensive and a good reference book from attachment parenting perspective. I would also recommend to read about other perspectives.

If you need to go back to work then you may find that some ideas are not practical, but overall it is a good book. It talks a lot about breastfeeding, carrying your baby in a sling and co-sleeping. Sears don't tell you that you are a bad parent if you are not following all the ideas, they tell you to find what is best for your baby AND you. If it offends you or makes you feel guilty to hear a lot about attachment parenting, then this book may not be for you.

I bought this book as well as the Ferber Method book. I wanted to be well researched. What I loved about this book was the compassionate side. It is written from a mother's perspective rather than a science perspective. It doesn't promise fast results, but give practical tips to the frustrated mother. After 11 days my daughter was sleeping from about 8pm at night until 8am the next morning and only waking at 1am to nurse. It also turned me on to attachment parenting, to which I also bought (and reviewed on this site) Dr. Sears' Attachment Parnting book. I recommend both. THey have totally changed my parenting style for the better.

Another excellent book by Dr. Amen, which is so fascinating about how the brain works and how with the newest diagnostic tools, it can be "tweaked" so our lives can be the best they can be. Very interesting read.

Dr. Amen was a welcomed guest on my Internet radio program, Coping with Caregiving.

I first read this book in college, and found that the principles it discusses work just as well with adults as it does with children. Portions of the book have given me great success in dealing with difficult coworkers. It helped me to overcome some problematic situations with my wife as well.

I'm a mom of Triplets, I was desperate to find a solution to soothe my babies as quickly as possible, since my time is very divided between them. This book is an absolute blessing, I have only read 3 quarters of it and it's already working wonders for us. I would strongly recommend this book to every new parent.

I really enjoyed this book for the first couple pages, but once I got into it I realized that they write in a way that almost seems judgmental and made me feel that I had done everything in my pregnancy wrong. Certain topics that I looked up in the book I noticed that they were very quick to add the negative and I felt so panicked and scared reading this book. I have read many other books since and have never felt that same panic as I did reading this book. I highly recommend the pregnancy bible, or the complete book of pregnancy and childbirth. I found those books encouraging rather than unsettling. I also found that a lot of information in this book was misinformed according to my doctors, midwives. I've heard some strong opinions about this book being about deceiving own children and that no matter what good intention a mother has, she should never deceive her own children. Although this could be a good ground for a longer discussion about ethics, here are some points that, in my opinion, make `Sneaky Chef' a good buy:

1. Children only eat what they find attractive to their eyes and their taste buds. Any reasoning about food nutritional value is blocked and absolutely ignored. So if you have a case of a child absolutely abhorring vegetables then the only way to make vegetables a part of daily meals, is to sneak them in to the dish under some disguise.
