Darkened streets, a city in danger and a psychotic vigilante. Everything about this book worked, a mixture of classic villains and new ones bring the Batman out of retirement. The examination of the relationship Batman and his villains new and old was brilliance that only a man like Miller could bring to the pages of the book. Another good thing was the fact that Frank Miller made Batman seem to be as bad as the villains he fought with the, with only difference being that he did the bad thinks to sadistic people imaginable. The last stand in-between The man of Steel and The Dark Knight was the most psychotically brilliant thing to end the book with.

This is Frank Miller's best work in mainstream comics, far better than Dark Knight Returns! For one thing, the David Mazzuchelli art is better than Miller's own fractured, flawed work. For another, playing inside the "real" DC Universe kept Miller's writing flaws in check. He tends to get off topic in his special projects, either getting lost on tangents or sacrificing the quality of his work to make some obscure political point (something that reduced a potentially excellent Elektra: Assassin to the level of trash and made Dark Knight Strikes Again an embarrassment for DC Comics, if you ask the right people).
Here, Miller plays by "the rules", and returns to the greatness he showed when he similarly "played by the rules" on Daredevil. It's ... Read More:

Roughly 80 years ago, William Strunk wrote a small textbook for students in his English Composition class. He wrote it with the intention of creation a short and accessible reference for his students, one of whom - E. B. White, author of the children's classic "Charlotte's Web" - would revise it almost thirty years later for publication to the general college market.
Since its inception, "The Elements of Style" has been the definitive text on clear written communication. It contains explicit guidelines that can easily be followed by anyone, and lays down the law in the form of 22 Elementary Rules of Usage and Elementary Principles of Composition (my favorite of which, "Omit needless words," I couldn't resist quoting in my own book).

I've heard some strong opinions about this book being about deceiving own children and that no matter what good intention a mother has, she should never deceive her own children. Although this could be a good ground for a longer discussion about ethics, here are some points that, in my opinion, make `Sneaky Chef' a good buy:
1. Children only eat what they find attractive to their eyes and their taste buds. Any reasoning about food nutritional value is blocked and absolutely ignored. So if you have a case of a child absolutely abhorring vegetables then the only way to make vegetables a part of daily meals, is to sneak them in to the dish under some disguise.
2. Any reasoning about nutrition is simply not possible in case of small children. It's better to feed ... Read More:

My ten month old loves his Karen Katz books (we have four of them). He loves to lift the flaps as we go, but sometimes he gets excited and tears them right off -- the flaps are paper thin in this book. It seems like we're always repairing them. But that's the only downside...the illustrations are colorful and we always touch his nose when we get to the nose page and his ears, etc and he giggles. They're very cute books. I just wish they were sturdier.

I have premature ovarian failure (POF) and I have found the FAM method extremely helpful in predicting periods (I get a few days notice), and ovulation even though I have very irregular or infrequent periods. If my period is several weeks late, I can tell if i am actually pregnant or if its just my POF. I save a ton of money on pee tests because the other physical symptoms are so reliable in telling me why my period is late: I dont have to worry about the possibility of being pregnant everytime my period is over 28 days (which happens most of the time). The chart tells me exactly whats going on. Its a bit of work, but well worth it I think for women having infertility problems.
