I would like to congratulate first of all the composer, Mr. Bacalov; soprano Martinez, Mr. Domingo and Mr. Chung and his orchestra for a job well done. This mass in a tango style is like nothng else ever written before. Is an uplifting life affirming work, but yet full of the nostalgia of tango. The work is based on the Latin ordinary of the Catholic mass(Even though Mr.Bacalov is of Jewish faith)is written in Spanish. The Gloria is marked as "Tempo di Milonga" is a very nostalgic movement, yet full of joyful parts. The credo is also a joyful section which contains a very pronounced percussion section. The other works can be are arregements Read More:

In my opinion there is a much neglected aspect of J.S. Bach: his love affair with life in itself. There is always a lot of talk about Bach and God, but Bach was first of all a man who understood to enjoy life in a deeper sense: with a full range of feelings and a full range of thoughts. The latter he produced himself in musical form.
Angela Hewitt understand these things, and that's why you should listen to this record. Her playing and choice of tempi and colours comes from within and are not mannered. She and Bach is talking about something important. They enjoy theire meeting. And you are there with them.

As one reviewer notes, the Schubert Wanderer Fantasie was originally issued on LP coupled with the Sonata in a minor D845. That LP was my first solo piano LP, and did it get me hooked! I had no idea solo piano could be so dynamic and powerful, but still engage the heart in soul-searching ways. Pollini combines deep and profoundness with momentum and drive. You never go to sleep on this music, but you also don't feel driven over-driven. Nothing ever seems glossed over with Pollini, but, unlike many other pianists who explore the intrinsic qualities of romantic works like these Fantasies, he never lets his exploration drag to the point of monotony. The Schumann, while a lesser know work than the famous Schubert, is certainly an even more incredible performance. ... Read More:

For me, this is Libera's most disappointing album by a handsome margin...and yet I give it five stars! How so? Allow me to explain. I consider myself to be probably Libera's number one fan (see my reviews of their earlier albums!) and after listening to their latest offering, I find myself in two minds to the point of schizophrenia. On the one hand, this album is exactly what you would expect it to be: perfection in both technical and artistic quality. The standard of the vocals is exceptional as always and the production is as faultless as ever. So why the doubts? As I indicated, I am a fanatical admirer of Libera. I have met Robert and the boys on a number of occasions and I have all their albums, even going back to their ... Read More:
