I like this video because I see a genuine Tai Chi master teaching authentic forms.
Before I received this video I had been attending Tai Chi classes for more than 3 years and constantly experienced sore knees. After I followed this video a few times, my knee pain disappeared. In this video Master Ross' constant reminder: `Don't forget, adjust your....' helped me correct my postures. Now I use this video everyday to check my postures. Thank you Master Ross for this precious gift.
For students taking Tai Chi Classes this video is a useful supplement between classes.
This video is also an excellent learning tool for beginners. Once you have learned this video course, you will have no problem moving on to the next level: an instructional ... Read More:

Review by Producer. This video includes warm-up and flexibility exercises, Chi-Gung (to increase the flow of life energy), Tai-chi exercises and a fourteen movement Tai-chi Yang short form. Careful instructions are given with many camera angles for ease in learning. Many exercises are shown from a seated position as well. There are five separate sections of exercise and each can be done separately, if desired. The menu contains many chapters to bring you to each exercise within each section. Tai-chi, chi-gung and the other exercises in this video are designed to strengthen the body and internal organs to keep the body functioning with full vitality throughout life.

The video is fairly useful. However, Terry Dunn frequently mixes up left and right in his oral description of what to do. This means you can never rely on what he's saying and have to keep looking at the video (which can be inconvenient for several of the positions). This compounds the problem of having to do the "opposite" of what you're looking at. The scences where he says "left" where he should have said "right" should have been redone. The more times you play the tape the more the left/right problem gets annoying!

this movie is very good but like most of Jet Li's flicks the plot and continuity are strange. Worth owning if you are a die hard martial arts fan but, if you are selective, you might want to pass on it. And, Michelle's performance is nothing compared to what she did in Crouching Tiger.

I just finished my 5th session with this DVD and it is quite good. (I feel fantastic!) The title is somewhat confusing; there really isn't a 'wake up' and 'go to sleep' section, more 'body focused' and 'mind focused.' My only complaint is that some forms are introduced but not really explained... but since I'd taken an intro Chi Kung it was fine. David Carradine is not just a gimmic, his voice is very mellow and is a perfect accompaniment. Also good if you are looking for a Chi Kung workout, the 'mind' session feels almost exactly like what we did in our class.

I'll agree with those who have commented on the "backward" view as Terrance attempts to teach the full Yang 108 form face-on towards the camera. This is obviously a very confusing method for most beginning students. Another reviewer made a comment to simply "place yourself between TV and mirror, facing the mirror. Problem solved"... yah sure, that could work if you have a full wall-sized mirror handy. (Even a doorsized mirror would be difficult to position for tai chi). I can see, though, that this video/dvd could possibly be a decent reference for students enrolled in a good tai chi class. He or she can practice the form at home per lessons learned from class. However, if this is your main Yang Tai Chi learning tool... ... Read More:
