Aficionados of Singing in the Rain have never quite gotten over the fact that their favourite film only received two (failed) Oscar nominations in 1952, whereas the previous year An American in Paris walked away with five Oscars, in the face of much more formidable competition (by 1952 the House of Un-American Activities had managed to blacklist many of Hollywood's most talented screenwriters). Ever since, this cabal has been fighting this perceived "injustice", mainly by trumpeting the shortcomings of An American in Paris. Since Singing in the Rain is one of those "insider" flicks (a Hollywood film about Hollywood), many of it's most fervent supporters are people with real Hollywood connections who can identify strongly with the storyline. ... If your are a Bogie fan this film is a must! Katherine Hepburn is a virginal missionary and Bogie is a messy, loser who insists on saving her life. Of course, there is a love interest, but it's the darnest love story you'll ever see. There can't be any two less likely candidates for marraige than these two, but in the end ....

If you haven't seen it already I recommend "White Hunter, Black Heart" starring Clint Eastwood as John Huston who directs The African Queen. It gives you a clear indication of the type of man Huston was and why he's such a action-packed director. It's the story behind this film.

What would a western directed by Alfred Hitchcock have looked like? Odds are that THE STALKING MOON, starring Gregory Peck, would come close.

Peck plays Sam Varner, a scout in the Southwest working to round up the last vestiges of the fierce Apache tribe. Reluctantly he succumbs to the insistent appeals of a white woman (Eva Marie Saint), whom he has rescued from ten years of captivity among the Apaches, to take her and her half-breed son away from their makeshift camp. The one detail that she withholds is that her husband and the father of the boy is the notorious, bloodthirsty and diabolical Apache warrior Salvaje. Same basics ad the DVD without the goodies. I will describe the DVD.

Before we go into any details, I suggest you put on your protective goggles, strap in and go for the main feature. Prepare to be dazzled with sharp images and excellent sound that stay true to the original film.

As with all Disney products there is a lot of schmaltz explaining to them selves of how great they are. In this case, I will have to agree with them. The platinum edition of "Snow White and the seven Dwarfs" makes it well worth trading in your old version or just retiring it. The two-disk edition has more information than can be absorbed in one sitting.

The picture quality for a movie of this age is beyond expectations. Warner Brothers did an amazing job with the remastering process on this film.

This is my favourite movie of all time. I have it on VHS and DVD. This HD DVD was an easy buy, and I was quite impressed with the upgrade in the picture quality. Very well done WB!!!!

I am really impressed with the 2-disc Special Edition DVD, hence the title. The quality was so good, at one point in the movie I though, "This movie looks like a new-release or something!". Definitely worth your money!

The Bonus Features DVD is really impressive. Well that's about all I have for this particular DVD.

The story of Cinderella is one of my favorites from Charles Perrault (with Sleeping Beauty, that in to a Disney film), and this film is a sweet,enchanting masterpiece from Disney.

The film has a great soundtrack (and that's one I like in a movie is a very good soundtrack) and I love the songs (my favorite is the romantic "So This is Love"); I love the mice too (they're cute). My favorite scene is after the narration, the little birds tried to wake Cinderella up in the morning, and I love it when Cinderella's animal friends fix up Cinderella's mother's dress, so she could go to the ball (until Drizella & Anastasia tore it to bits The B******!).
