I received this DVD as a gift & loved it. The characters were an absolute delight to watch. I enjoyed reading the book too but when words can come off a page & be seen on screen like this adaptation is, it's simply: any viewers delight!

Compared to season 1, Season 2 lives up to season 1's standards and even surpasses it by a bit. Its really worth having and at this price, its not that bad. The only down side for some ppl, might be that its not blu ray or even hd dvd like the first season, but lets face it ppl, get a upconverting dvd player for your widescreen hd tv's and it looks 70 percent HD. Its highly worth it. Pre-order it NOW.

"Rome" represents one of the saddest misjudgments in video history. HBO assembled an incredible cast, built an amazing set, and started telling a story that could have held an audience for many years. Unfortunately, when the series was initially slow to draw fans, HBO decided to cut their losses, and started wrapping up in a hurry. The great loves, hates, and political and moral issues that had begun to be developed were resolved in a couple of episodes. Then, about the time they offed Caesar, they realized that they had taken a potential huge hit and killed it as well.

I loved the workout for Volume 1 but Charlene Johnson needs to have a microphone on her so that I can hear her instructions. The music drowns out her instructions. Even when she's talking to the other participants I still can't hear her.
