I thought Season 8 sort of took viewers back to the good ol' days with stand alone episodes like "Patience" and "Roadrunners"... I think Season 8 was treated unfairly simply b/c Mulder was absent for the most part... The TRUTH IS out there and it's that Scully and Doggett held up the series just fine. Give this one a chance!

Seaon 9 has some solid episodes like "John Doe", "Audrey" and "4-D"... I think Season 9 was treated unfairly simply b/c Mulder was absent (with the exception of the finale)... The TRUTH IS out there and it's that Scully, Doggett and Reyes held up the series just fine. I'd like to have seen Annabeth Gish become more comfortable in her role as Reyes (Some of the acting on her part seemed a bit stiff -- To me anyway). I'm not a Reyes hater though, I actually am very fond of the character. My main beef with season 9... Is that the finale was boring and that after Doggett and Reyes carried the season (with Scully playing more of a background role than in other seasons), they got a very dull ending. Firefly: The Complete Series

One of the best and original science fiction shows ever created for television. Quality writing and amazing characters. If you buy this DVD series watch out, I guarantee you'll be begging for more. Firefly rocks. Even people that don't usually watch Sci-Fi end up loving it because it's different.
Check out its reviews on Amazon.com. 2,586 people cannot be wrong.


Also check out the movie "Serenity" that followed Firefly.
It was voted best science fiction movie from a poll taken by the BBC. It even beat out Star Wars!
Although Serenity came after the TV series, it may be best to watch it first rather than later because you learn important information at the begininng of the movie that explains the setting ... Read More:

Living in Germany it is not always easy to get a hold of the fresh and funny American sitcoms.
After season one was rudely placed into the Saturday afternoon broadcast window in Germany, I bought the first season on DVD and enjoyed it very much. I knew that there has been a second season, but I couldn't buy it from the US.
By accident, and I mean a really lucky accident, I saw that it was released in Canada and bought it instantly. I don't regret it at all: the second season is as excellent as the first, the jokes seem almost funnier - a wonderful season.
Even the import fee of 5 Euros doesn't annoy me the slightest.

While admittedly this season could not captivate in the way that the first two could, it was ultimately CW politics, not the quality itself, that got the show canned. I found this season full of twists and turns, and the final episode was definitely left room for a big screen adaptation if need be.

The series itself was surprisingly addictive. I'm as stunned as you are that a straight, 20-something male from Canada considers this one of my all time favourite shows. lol.

Aficionados of Singing in the Rain have never quite gotten over the fact that their favourite film only received two (failed) Oscar nominations in 1952, whereas the previous year An American in Paris walked away with five Oscars, in the face of much more formidable competition (by 1952 the House of Un-American Activities had managed to blacklist many of Hollywood's most talented screenwriters). Ever since, this cabal has been fighting this perceived "injustice", mainly by trumpeting the shortcomings of An American in Paris.
