I don't think that I can be terribly articulate about this or explain the reasons this album resonated with me so strongly. I think it is just the sheer quality of the material and mastery of the artist.

I apologize in advance if the vagueness of this review is not terribly helpful. But, I must say that as a musicholic, it is very rare for me to react in so strongly a fashion upon first listen. I encourage you to listen to the bits and pieces you can find online to see for yourself. The hooks, vocals, tunes and melodies have totally grabbed me. A very hard album to get into, none of the instant gratification of the first 2 albums. Maybe a grower, time will tell. But if you're feeling a bit down, do not listen to this album !!!

It may not be Madonna's best album. But it is so fun and catchy I can't help but like it. Its "Confessions On The Dancefloor" promised to (catchy, poppy...). My favorite tracks on the album are Give It 2 Me, She's Not Me and Incredible.

Pocketful of Sunshine is one of the best albums I've listened to in a while. It's such a feel good album, you can't help putting a smile on your face as you groove on to the tracks!

01. Put Your Arms Around Me
Up beat, spunky, and a good melody. Great lyrics, they just make you feel really good and gooey inside.

02. Pocketful of Sunshine
Not one of my favorite songs on the album, but it reminds me of the type of song they would play on vacation commercials, although it's very clubby as well, and has good danceability.

03. Happy

Nineteen of ABBA's best songs are plenty, but you won't tire of them. It is amazing that four Swedes (Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus as writers and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog as the main singers) could take such simple English cliches and turn them into pop music magic. Despite sometimes maddeningly simple lyrics, the song arrangements were unnervingly catchy and the multi-level layered compostions are fascinating. The keyboards and synthesizers were used in some of the more ingenious ways during the seventies to produce that unmistakeable ABBA sound. Twenty-Five is George Michael's second greatest hits album after 1998's Ladies & Gentlemen, since which he has released one covers album in 1999 and one album of new material in 2004. While this is a very listenable album for mixing Wham songs with solo material, which L&G didn't, it also suffers for the all-too-often decision to include newer but lesser tracks on a hits album at the expense of the older, bigger hits (U2, you're on notice). In GM's case, his last album, Patience, a good album but hardly a classic, is given representation with an overly generous 5 songs (6 if you count Shoot the Dog, which was released on his UK version of Patience), while Faith, his biggest album with 6 Top Ten songs (4 going to Number One) is limited to only 3 songs. I received this as a gift at Christmas and I just love it. Even though I have all of his albums which include most of these songs, there are quite a few that I didn't have. You just can't beat his soulful voice. This is a great addition to any fans collection.

Jordin Sparks

... and by "smolders" I mean that she glows and is smokin' hot, but thanks to some damp material she falls just short of igniting the fiery album I was expecting.

Pretty, bubbly, young, a great performer and with an amazing voice, Jordin Sparks nails some winners in this album, which already has three hits under its belt:

1. This is My Now - the song she sang to take the American Idol title from Blake Lewis (Granted, he was at a disadvantage due to not being able to change up the song to better suit his style)
2. Tattoo - Definitely mainstream pop, a catchy song geared towards radio and television saturation. (I still like it) Co-written by Sparks.
3. No Air - Hot, hot song with hottie Chris Brown (need I say more?)
