Nineteen of ABBA's best songs are plenty, but you won't tire of them. It is amazing that four Swedes (Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus as writers and Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog as the main singers) could take such simple English cliches and turn them into pop music magic. Despite sometimes maddeningly simple lyrics, the song arrangements were unnervingly catchy and the multi-level layered compostions are fascinating. The keyboards and synthesizers were used in some of the more ingenious ways during the seventies to produce that unmistakeable ABBA sound. Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons rock! This group was a few years ahead of my time, so while I was familiar with their music it I have to admit to not being a huge fan, nor knowing much about the group's history until I saw the musical in Seattle last week. Now I'm hooked! While this recording is a studio version and not from the live show, the songs are spot on and you'll feel like you are right back there watching the musical again. You will find yourself humming the songs from this CD long after you've put it away.

The show tells the story of Frankie and group from their early days in New Jersey struggling to make it as a group, to hitting it big, and through a troubled financial period until inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ... Read More:

While watching an episode of Just for Laughs I was overcome with laughter at John Pinette's short set. Although recognizing him from a couple of bit parts on T.V. I had no idea what a gifted performer he really is. Intrigued, I ordered this DVD and couldn't stop laughing. Even while writing this review I keep smiling when I think of many of his bits. Granted most of his material revolves around food and his size but he is just plain hilarious. While screening this DVD for my eight months pregnant wife I had to stop it numerous times so that she wouldn't lose control of her bladder. Simply put if you want a fun hour of stand-up to watch then pick this DVD up! "You go now!"
