Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 English

First of all, the interface in Microsoft Office is excellent. It looks great and will help you get things done quicker - but for the expensive price of even the cheapest version, you're better off settling for the free OpenOffice suite which has a more traditional interface that you are probably used to if you've used previous versions of Microsoft Office or Corel WordPerfect.

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition

Microsoft Office is a really good product to begin with. It was in great need of a facelift, which I think it got with this edition. The pricing is reasonnable but for most home users, iWork by Apple would be totally sufficient.

The strong point: everybody uses Office. This new edition supports the new file formats. It works.
The weak points: still pricy. No Leopard integration for iCal. Entourage could have been much better and much more useful if the calendar and address book functions were integrated with Mac OS, like Bento did it.

QuickBooks Pro 2008

Review Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003.

I Ordered Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003, for my wife's birthday, but they sent Office XP 2002 instead.

Now, getting the run around from one Dept. to another in order to try and get the correct Version, for her.

It would have been nice if they would have sent an E-mail to say that they were out of stock (if that were the case) and would send it as soon as they received more. But they led us to believe that what we ordered is what we were getting.

So until this problem is resolved I can not give a favourable rating at this time.

Quicken Home & Business 2008

Having upgraded from XG2005 to H&B2008 to resolve compatibility issues with Vista I was sorely disappointed. Maybe not even so much with the functionality but the response from customer service, when I finally received one.

One issue I hoped to fix with the upgrade was some bizarre functionality where I could only scroll 1 direction with my wheel mouse in both account and investment windows. Well they fixed half of it. The account windows were fixed but the investment windows remain untouched.

After 3 attempts to get an answer from Intuit I finally received the following response:

"I would like to inform you that there is no problem in the investment area of Quicken, you just need to make sure that you don't ... Read More:

QuickBooks EasyStart 2008

Windows Live OneCare 2.0

Though it can be easily argued that OneCare isn't the most comprehensive security application available, there's more to PC health than just security.

Since installing OneCare my files are backed up, my printers are shared, and my computer loads and runs faster. I also like the ability to monitor the status of up to three computers, Microsoft calls this your OneCare Circle. By adding my Mom's computer in Calgary to my Circle I'm able to keep tabs on her machine even though I'm 300 kilometers away in Edmonton!

OneCare is a great program which seems to be continually improving, and I hope Norton and McAfee steal a page from it's playbook. Good-work!
