This is almost 100% animated (except for beginning and ending wrappers of real film) but Barney's (ok, Mr. Limpet but you KNOW you think of him as Barney) voice and character comes through. The reason it doesn't deserve 4 stars, even from a die-hard Barney fan like me, is the animation but it's the only way this could have been done. It's enjoyable but the least of the post-Any Don Knotts movies.

Revolutionary in its time, now it plays just as well; however you spend a lot of time thinking about this is where it all started. We all have our favorite parts and people. What is that at the fountain? No it can't be, Joan Cusack? And this is the last time you will see Jamie Gertz on the bench.
You will have to watch it several times to take it all in.

It is a double due for Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald). It is her birthday and the school dance. Tomorrow her sister is getting married. So Grand Parents are converging with their grandparent quirks.
Turns out hat Samantha like Jake who is going with Caroline. Mean time back at the dance other agendas arise with the geeks ... Read More:

No one wakes up screaming in this feature, though it's a wonder, given the way the characters show up in each other's darkened apartments! A good deal of the action, as well as the dialogue, appears to be utterly fantastic--so it seems appropriate that Grable's presence is often accompanied by strains of "Over the Rainbow". Such incredibility does lend to the unpredictability of the plot-line, though, so the movie can be enjoyable if one doesn't think about it too deeply. It's also fun to watch Grable in a film noir--and amusing to see how a swimsuit scene is worked into the story!

I watched this film with much anticipation but was left dissapointed at the end. The ending was predictable and the acting was subpar. I expected more from a Richard Gere movie. Not as good as An Officer And A Gentleman. Richard Gere's charactar Julian is very shallow and materialistic. Lauren Hutton gives a dry performance. She really isnt an actress. The film started off well but like I said earlier, the ending left something to be desired.

This review refers to the Warner Bros. DVD edition of "The Gauntlet"....
From the moment Ben Shockley(Clint Eastwood)steps out of his car and an empty booze bottle falls out, we know this is not the usual "Dirty Harry" character we'd been used to up to now. Ben is a cop who's chances for greatness seem to be fading with him. Eastwood directs as well as stars in this film and we see his brillant directoral style taking hold here.
The Phoenix P.D. seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel when they assign Shockley the job of escorting Gus Malley, a seemingly unimportant witness from Las Vegas back to Phoenix for a trial. Ben's been looking for his big break on a big case and it doesn't look like this will be it with this guy. Upon arriving in Las Vegas, Ben discovers ... Read More:
