I wasn't sure what to expect when I finally got around to watching this movie, I really liked it. It has great shots of B-47's and B-52's in action, the story line was good (although not probable, a squadron CO would be canned immediately for what the movie character was doing), and I thought it portrayed the life of a military aviation mechanic fairly accurately (I was one in the Navy). If you enjoyed Jimmy Stewart's "Strategic Air Command" you'll enjoy this movie.
I gave it four stars because the story line is stretching it a bit but overall I enjoyed this display of Cold War Era SAC equipment.

This is my favorite movie of all time!! My grandmother saw this movie in the theater back in time and she was able to get a copy of it and play it for me when I was 7 years old(I'm 23) and it has been my favorite since then. It is a great story and the whole family will love it.

I can't give that rating on Amazon. Anyway, as a lover of EP's music, and at the time only his music, I was so so so very hesitant to ever give a film of his the smallest chance, because of all the negative things I had heard. I didn't want a bad film to ruin the image that the music had created in my mind. So it was 35 years of just music, nothing else. Then this past April 2004 I was able to make a "pilgrimage" to Memphis, specifically Graceland. While talking with an employee in one of the giftshops, she convinced me to give certain films a try, and King Creole was the one she recommended I start with. She was kind enough to also recommend a few that I must avoid at all costs, namely Girls, Girls, Girls. If I ... Read More:

In ELMER GANTRY Burt Lancaster has the best role of his illustrious career. He essentially is playing himself - a gifted hustler who accidentally finds himself in a profession for which he is a perfect fit. As an evangelist he shows that he understands people and is easily able to manipulate the crowds of devout believers attending his services. Lancaster gives the performance of his life. It is easy to see how much he is enjoying himself in this movie.
The cast includes accomplished character actors Arthur Kennedy and Dean Jagger. Don't miss Patti Page in a minor but important role.
The screenplay was adapted from a book by Sinclair Lewis about religious evangilism in the Midwest in the 1920's.

I believe that this documentary is likely to appeal to two kinds of people. First, those that don't know a thing about Jimi Hendrix, and that will be able to watch an engaging introduction to his life and music that doesn't go to far but entertains. Secondly, those fans that want to have absolutely everything that has to do with Hendrix, and that will treasure this dvd.
On the other hand, I don't think that those spectators that simply want to watch an excellent documentary about a musical icon will be happy with this one, because even though it is good, it is far from outstanding or even very good. It doesn't have enough information about Jimi Hendrix, and it lacks depth. It is entertaining and a good light introduction to Hendrix, but ... Read More:

Every year on thanksgiving after we've had our turkey dinner and cleaned up the kitchen, my family and I sit down and watch White Christmas together. This is a tradition we have had for as long as i can remember. I have seen this movie many many times over the years. I usually watch it at least 2-3 times during the christmas season. It is by far my favorite christmas movies and one of my all time favorite movies. I wish that movies made nowadays where like this type of movie. It is a classic and I would recommend it to anyone who likes old movies, christmas movies, or just movies that make you feel good. This is a terrific movie and one that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime.
The best time to watch it is at night with your christmas ... Read More:

A marvelous epic melodrama, with portions that are emotionally stirring, and with two exceedingly attractive stars, this film ranks high in the "sword and sandals" genre. This is prime-time Richard Burton, at age 27, heavenly to look at and even better to listen to; his crisp enunciation makes the English language shine, and though some of his scenes are a little "over the top", he carries them off with charismatic presence. Jean Simmons is exquisite as Diana, the woman who has loved Marcellus (Burton) since childhood, and their screen romance has a rare depth and spark. Other notable performances come from Victor Mature as Demetrius the slave, with a mute but moving scene at Christ's crucifixion, and Michael Rennie is grand as Peter. ... Read More:

I don't know why, but I rememberd seeing this film decades ago and thought there were some other actors in it than what appears here. My mistakes, I guess.
I've seen probably eighty per cent of the Westerns made, and this is, in my humble opinion, the best. It's a color film, which in itself is rare for a Western. That said, there are other elements that make this great.
First of all, the plot is extremely well put together and there are some truly funny moments in the script. Randolph Scott gives one of his finest performances of his career (though he does quite well in "China Sky" also), and the supporting cast, while not that famous at the time this was made, all went on to become movie stars.
My only hesitation with this movie, ... Read More:
