How can one not love Indiana Jones? The guy is brilliant, tough, not afraid to get his hands dirty, he doesn't mind shooting the bad guy rather than just delivering him to justice and he's a hit with the ladies. I liked the Indiana Jones movies when I was a kid, but you really can't appreciate how good they are until you've had about a decade or so of real movie watching; I mean after giving up the cartoons. Each story just gets better; Raiders of the Lost Ark is great, but a little slow, The Temple of Doom is even better than Raiders and The Last Crusade - well, Sean Connery is in it, what more do I need to say? If you're even a bit of a movie buff and liked these films as a kid, buy them and watch them. When your kids are old enough to ... Read More:

Well, it's been a while since I've seen a musical cartoon not produced by Disney. The movie is about a small town cat who moves to Hollywood to try and become a star, but in Hollywood animals are not considered good enough to be actors. It's good for all ages and the music is great too. I would recommend buying the soundtrack as well. And in my opinion I really see nothing wrong with this movie...but it doesn't leave you in awe or anything so it gets 4 out 5 stars from me. : )
As a freshman English teacher, I was looking for a teaching tool to help make Great Expectations become "real" to my students. This film was a great tool because it followed the novel so closely. We were able to read a block of chapters, complete study questions on that block, and finally watch the film version of those chapters come alive on screen. The fidelity with which the cast and crew deliver this Dickens classic are more than commendable. 5 stars from a very grateful teacher.

This is the first in a series of fun to watch action packed movies based on what an archeologist should be. Being a first you will not notice the pattern of the film unless you are used to Saturday matinees.
We hit the deck running on this one as we see Indiana Jones making a John Wayne type of entrance. So much that you do not notice the dubious looking character next to him Statipo (Alfred Molina). Until he says "Give me the Idle and I will give you the whip."
Now settled down, after his near miss with the natives, Harrison Ford is a professor (Indiana Jones) teaching the fact that archeology is a search for facts not some thrill ride.
That very afternoon he is confronted by some government agents. It seems that his old ... Read More:

It may just be coincidence but this time Harrison Ford that was a carpenter is not Dr. Indiana Jones (Junior) and his last crusade (until the next film) is to obtain a cup of a carpenter.
Even though this film can stand on its own, it can be more fully understood if you watch "Raiders of the lost Ark" first.
Once again we start out with a young Jones trying to save an artifact from pillagers. This lets us know of his heroic energy and introduces his father Professor Henry Jones (Sean Connery) and his obsession with the Holy Grail, even to the exclusion of his relationship with Junior.
Now grown Dr. Indiana Jones gives a class and explains that Archeology is a pretty strait forward science and not some search for legends. He receives a mysterious ... Read More:

Blake Edwards had a unique style of film; all the films seemed to have a certain atmosphere while each maintaining an individual character. Of course, Julie Andrews was a frequent actress in his films - Edwards and Andrews are married, and have been since 1969, an astonishing longevity for Hollywood.
In 'Victor/Victoria', Edwards returns to a Parisian settings familiar to fans of his work in the Pink Panther series - there is some minor elements of slapstick (the clutzy waiter, the bumbling detective, perhaps a nod in the direction of the Pink Panther films), but the real narrative plot is drawn along by the stylish comedy of Julie Andrews (Victoria Grant/Victor) and Robert Preston (Carroll Todd), in one of his last films.
The film is actually based on a much older piece, ... Read More:

I thoroughly enjoyed the video plus got insight into the importance of both figures in the history of the church. The acting was superb, and the pace was great. It was informative but never tried to be a documentary of strictly "this happened and then that happened." A few liberties may have been taken with the textual account, but it was not disruptive or salacious or even detrimental to the whole effort. On the whole, I would endorse it wholeheartedly, particularly to those who are interested in church history and who want a video with a realistic "feel" for the period portrayed.

As a child of the 70's and 80's,The Roger Moore-era movies defined the tone of the entire James Bond 007 series. When Moore left the series after A View To A Kill,Timothy Dalton took over and put Bond in a direction that was familier to readers of Ian Fleming's novels, yet confusing to moivegoers. The Living Daylights (1987)brought an end to the tongue and cheek tone of Moore's movies.Instead,Dalton becomes the 007 of the original novels,Tough, ruthless ,yet still refined. Dalton read the original novels and redefined the roll. Unfortunately, movie goers were a bit uneasy with a James Bond who didn't crack cheesy one liners, jump into bed with an average of three women per movie and was harder edged than any other Bond on the screen. The movie itself is a fine, yet slow-paced, involving a latter ... Read More:

All of those I see who deem this a "Indiana Jones" rip off aren't too swift! The indy films were actually rip offs of these stories which were written in the 1800's. This film is pretty good, it is VERY comic book with the acting, sets, effects and storyline. If you are a child of anything later than the 80s then you won't "get" this film. If you can't simply enjoy a film that is "family" oriented so be it. But many people enjoyed this film when it came out and still do! Its a fun romp similiar to the Indy films but with more cheeky humor. Sharon Stone takes on her early role and is quite silly and fun.
