Anna and Christina are two of the best child actresses I've ever seen act together. This movie symbolizes the meaning of true friendship. By the way, does anyone know when and if it will come out on DVD?

This is one of those Hollywood dramas that escaped most peoples attention over the years and I found it hard to get on video and I never seen it on TV. Despite the critics panning of the movie (religious tones etc)it has superb production values, great score and the storyline broken into vignettes make it a must see. I'll hold on to this video for future viewing and hopefully it will be released sometime on DVD

This is a hilarious comedy of assumptions with a very strong cast. Ginger Rogers, David Niven and Charles Coburn all star in this delightful comedy.
Ginger Rogers is a store clerk who happens to see a woman leaving a baby at the door of a church. She rushes forward to tell the woman not to do such a thing when suddenly the woman flees and the door opens. Ginger is assumed to be the mother of the baby and the priest insists that she keeps the child. And from there the story springs.
The Church, in their role of helping, interferes at the store to make sure Ginger keeps her job so that she can raise the child. This brings her to the attention of her boss. Fascination and romance follow.
Ginger is like a rider on a roller coaster. ... Read More:

OK, so not everyone has seen this movie in their lives, but this is a rare-see for cable TV viewers. Featuring Telly Savalas from "Kojak", this is one of ITC's best movies ever made -- but whatever happened to the studios after 1992? Don't they have it on DVD yet??

The dancing in this film is of the highest order...and the pairing of Rogers and Astaire has never reached the heights of energy, complexity, creativity, and beauty. Here we see all aspects of Astaire's artistic genius from tap, to ballroom, to aestheitc dancing.....and Rogers had grown and evolved her own expertise considerably by the time of this movie's shooting. Waltz in Swing Time and Never Gonna Dance are extrarodinarily ambitious and complex, each expressing beautifully and poignently many emotions of the human heart. These alone are timeless. And the Kearn and Fields team have created some of the most evocative music ever for a musical. The commedic plot where Lucky loses and finds Penny no less than three times in a roller coaster of emotion....only adds to the ... Read More:

I think this is a very good Esther Williams film. Though there is not a lot of fancy swimming scenes, most is done in the ocean, while swiiming the channel. The story line and songs are delightful.

This film is well interesting. Julie Andrews played the role the best she could, however I don't think it is close to her at her best...(Her best was Sound of Music, by far). Yet, she did excellent and as always her voice is lovely.
I thought Mary Tyler Moore did a fine job as Miss Dorothy. The trouble with the movie comes with Carol Channing. She played this role so annoyingly I almost wanted Mrs. Meers to knock her over the head when they were fighting, I mean how did this girl make it? She can't sing, can't dance and can't act...a triple blow.
Also James Fox was a mess. There was absolutely no chemistry between him and Julie. (Don't watch Sound of Music before this movie because after watching Julie and Chris Plummer you won't be able to ... Read More:
There's very little I can say about "ffolkes" that hasn't been said before (and better) by others, but I'll try my best.
In a complete departure from Bond, Moore portrays Lord ffolkes, an arrogant, eccentric, chauvenistic diver who leads a crack mercenary commando diving team in the employment of Lloyd's of London. Opposite him is Anthony Perkins as Kramer, one of the most dementedly amoral villains I've ever seen on film. Both actors give spectacular, over-the-top performances, which may seem corny and unbelievable if not for the larger-than-life aspect of the film.
People who grew up reading Action Force in Marvel's "Battle" magazine will find a lot of similar qualities among the plot and dialog of "ffolkes." It's hard ... Read More:

In 2007 Jeremy Irons and Helen Mirren thanked American actors for showing the Brits "how to do things". As much as I love Dame Helen (and I really do)I beg to differ. Now getting back to the movie at hand: Deadly Advice. This 1994 production really is a gem of a movie (almost a precurser to the 2005 Brit flic "Keeping Mum"). Everything works well: the overpowering "mum": Brenda Fricker (Home Alone 2) with a constant reign over her two daughters: Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous) and Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake). Jonathan Pryce (the original pimp in Miss Saigon)and Sir John Mills (Great Expectations to Ghandi)are only two of the others who add to a wonderful story. And it's not just a gathering of Brit stars plastered on the screen; each has their par t (big or small) and they all play it for ... Read More:
