Little Mermaid II Return

I was shocked and surprised by the negative reviews I saw on the web, I thought "The Little Mermaid II" is a very cute and funny sequel for everyone - kids and adults (like me),and I still love the original film; and I also love Melody Ariel and Eric's little girl,and I like that headstrong, rebellious spirit in Melody (like mother, like daughter huh!).

I have notice that the sort-of prologue sequence, (the beginning) is like the Sleeping Beauty, Everyone - land and sea was invited to little Melody's presentation,until someone wicked (Morgana,the Sea Witch) intruded in on the clebration; So over all I think this film is artistically and story-wise true to the original film.

Hey I may be a male but I think it is funny when the squid kidnaps Ariel and Flounder. Then the kids dissapeer I may require to continue watching this video to see the rest of the part. My grandma got me this video eight years ago.

I love the fairy tales from Hans Christian Andersen, and "The Little Mermaid" is one of my favorite fairy tales from him. Like I said I like a little twist in a fairy story now and then; like the ending...the little sea princess gets her prince (it's a change from Andersen's original ending).

The animation and backgrounds are very beautiful and the characters are appealing,and also the casting is very good too; I love Ariel, she's one of my favorite Disney Princesses along with Cinderella & Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty." Ariel's voice actress Jodi Benson has an excellent singing voice for the film; and also suits her character.

Whenever we see jazz-history programs on TV, we see very little of Thelonious Monk; there's always that short footage of him wearing slim sunglasses, sitting on a fold-out chair playing the piano, and stomping his foot. I had never even heard Monk talk prior to this presentation of him ...it's a good thing there are subtitles ;)
Watching this highly informative and well presented 90-minute documentary about him and his music got me so excited that I had to throw on the old "Straight No Chaser" record when it was over - I guess I actually needed a chaser.
A common mistake in presentations of musical documentaries is that there isn't enough music; people usually talk over it, but that is NOT the case here; footage from recording sessions and ... Read More:

This movie was a disappointment for me. I had hoped to learn about a creative musician's life but that is not the story here. The acting is great but the threads of plot are just too disconnected. I suspect those who love this film know Mr. Parkers life so well that the holes in the story don't keep them in the dark the way I felt. Clint Eastwood directs this movie like my 15 year old son who doesn't understand how to show me something that he knows really well and I don't. That's the feeling I had watching this movie.

Unless you know Charlie Parkers life very well I'd pass on this movie.

I know this movie didn't get the best reviews ever, but it is just that many people are beliving that the movie is copy-catting "The Land Before Time". THAT'S NOT TRUE! This movie was created to show kids that they should get along in tough times, and be a team. Most people arn't getting that message.

Although this movie does have major flaws, it still is worth buying. What flaws you ask? For instance, the star of the show, Aladar, is an Iguanodon. The main villain in the show, is a Carnotaurus. Unlike the movie, Carnotaurus was much smaller than any Iguanodon.

But I reccomend you still buy it! It's really worth more than it is advertised.
