What a pity some found the depictions poor; worse, the character of of Mary Stuart is found wanting. Nothing about sympahy for those born to such fates, or even at the chopping block, having to use that axe at least three times. You are unmoved, and Mary of Guise is to blame for most as she chose to have her daughter raised in France as wife to the Dauphin, i.e. Crown Prince. My, this girl could do nothing right. Focus maybe on Elizabeth I, gives me horrors but my god, to live a childhood always under the sword of Damocles, and it was no joke, Elizabeth could well expect a trip to the block when Mary I became sovereign of England. Shall we ignore the most tenuous ethical and legal hold on the throne of England by the Tudors? My own horrors ... Read More:

As a child of the 70's and 80's,The Roger Moore-era movies defined the tone of the entire James Bond 007 series. When Moore left the series after A View To A Kill,Timothy Dalton took over and put Bond in a direction that was familier to readers of Ian Fleming's novels, yet confusing to moivegoers. The Living Daylights (1987)brought an end to the tongue and cheek tone of Moore's movies.Instead,Dalton becomes the 007 of the original novels,Tough, ruthless ,yet still refined. Dalton read the original novels and redefined the roll. Unfortunately, movie goers were a bit uneasy with a James Bond who didn't crack cheesy one liners, jump into bed with an average of three women per movie and was harder edged than any other Bond on the screen. The movie itself ... Read More:
This film was awesome! I loved "The Nanny" and still watch it today on Lifetime. Fran Drescher is one of the great actors of our time. Her unique voice and offbeat style puts her over the top. This movie would have lost all of it personality and perkiness if not for Fran Drescher. Two Thumbs up!
Why the studio would decide to release this version is beyond my understanding. I bought this version by mistake several months ago while looking for the full version. I purchased one full-length version from ebay not long ago at a very good price and am very happy to own it (the UK 3,5 hours VHS PAL full version is deleted and you can only hope to buy it secondhand). It is as one reviewer said 'a mind boggling' thriller and lots of cuts were made that are important to the plot.
Three stars for this version, because it has been cut to shreds. The uncut version deserves its full five stars. 3,5 hours of film as opposed to the 2 hours cut version, you can imagine missing a lot of suspense!

this is a very well done and engaging political thriller.it's base on an event which may or may not have occurred in 1984.it's about a rogue Russian Submarine that has disappeared and may be headed toward American territory.the question is,why?both the Russians and the U.S are hunting the sub and have their own reasons for doing so.but time is of the essence.the movie is basically a psychological suspense thriller.this isn't what i would call a nail biting movie, though it does has its moments.it's more of a character study,of one man in particular, the commander of the Russian sub.the last 30 minutes or so are quite tense and down to the wire.the whole movie is highly dramatic but not at all boring, thanks to good writing and directing.Larry Ferguson and Donald Stewart co wrote the screenplay ... I watched this mini-series on television in the seventies, and was hooked. This DVD set is simply fabulous, and for both price and entertainment value, it is simply the best DVD purchase I have ever made. Can't recommend this series enough.

I love this version of Jane Eyre. I would go to the library and borrow the VHS version at least once or twice a year. Now it's on DVD, huzzah!
Oh, and Timothy Dalton just may have the most perfect English voice in the world.

As an Agatha Christie fan, I was very curious when I happened upon this video recently. As Christie always seems so cool, collected and in control as the voice behind her mysteries, I assumed that that was how she was in real life. Thus as I read the video description and learned that she was a painfully shy woman who clung to her husband for support, I was very interested in learning more.
What made this film even more intriguing is that in writing a screenplay about Christie, the minds behind this film did so playfully. They focused on an 11 day period when Christie disappeared, and set the whole thing up as a mystery plot...in classic Agatha style...
Or so they thought. The mystery part of this movie left no real mystery to solve. The "surprise twist" at the end was a minor twist that didn't really ... Read More:
