Thomas Crown Affair, the 99

starring: Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, Denis Leary, Ben Gazzara, Frankie Faison
directed by: John McTiernan

May 08, 2001
This movie is a witty and entertaining caper/romance. Lively plot twists and smart writing make this one of my personal favourite movies from the past decade. Don't let the pretty people deter you from thinking this more is intelligent and fulfilling -- they actually get the chance to act, this time out.

Hunt for Red October, the

starring: Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Sam Neill, James Earl Jones
directed by: John McTiernan

January 06, 2004
this is a very well done and engaging political thriller.it's base on an event which may or may not have occurred in 1984.it's about a rogue Russian Submarine that has disappeared and may be headed toward American territory.the question is,why?both the Russians and the U.S are hunting the sub and have their own reasons for doing so.but time is of the essence.the movie is basically a psychological suspense thriller.this isn't what i would call a nail biting movie, though it does has its moments.it's more of a character study,of one man in particular, the commander of the Russian sub.the last 30 minutes or so are quite tense and down to the wire.the whole movie is highly dramatic but not at all boring, thanks to good writing and directing.Larry Ferguson ... Predator

starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Elpidia Carrillo, Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura
directed by: John McTiernan

December 07, 1992
Predator is another classic Arnold Schwarzenegger Movie.Basically the
movie is about a group of commandos in the jungle of Central
America, who fall victim to a alien warrior.but this is no ordinary
warrior. One by one the commandos are dispatched, until only Dutch, played
by Arnie,is left.this movie is not for the squeamish.there are some
very gory scenes,as the soldiers are killed in gruesome ways.again
there are some great action sequences, leading to a the ultimate
showdown between Dutch and the Predator.there are also some good one
liners in the film,as with any Arnie movie.a very entertaining film

thrill ride of a movie.all you need to know is this:terrorists have
taken control of a high rise building and have hostages.the only thing
standing in their way is one man:John McClane(Bruce Willis.)Bruce
Willis puts in a great performance as McClane, who becomes a one man
army.this movie is so much fun,you won't care(or have time to care)
about realism.this movie raised the bar for the action genre.it doesn't
take long to get going either, and you'll wonder where the tow hours
went.if you're an action junkie,and you haven't seen this movie,what

Medicine Man

starring: Sean Connery, Lorraine Bracco, José Wilker, Rodolfo De Alexandre, Francisco Tsiren Tsere Rereme
directed by: John McTiernan

December 17, 1996
Before Medine Man, I didn't think of director John McTiernan, as someone who would put a "message" into his films. After all Die Hard, Predator, and The Thomas Crown Affair remake, are not exactly known as "thinking people" movies. I am an admirer of his action work very much and like Connery too. I was impressed with the way Medicine Man was able to combine enough action and message without going overboard in either direction.

Totally removing himself from modern society, Dr Robert Campbell (Connery), has become a Medicine Man to the people of the Amazonian village, in which he now calls home. Thanks to an unforeseen mishap, Campbell has discovered that the cure for cancer can be derived from a chemical found in a Brazilian flower. Dr. Rae Crane (Lorraine Bracco), a fellow ... Read More:

Last Action Hero

starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, F. Murray Abraham, Art Carney, Charles Dance, Frank McRae
directed by: John McTiernan

August 05, 1997
You've probably read this film's plot description already, but let me sumerize it briefly just to comment on it: Austin O'Brian is a huge Swartzenagger fan. Arnie's latest films (acording to this film,) are the Jack Slater movies, which (presumably) came out right after Terminator 2. Danny idolizes the character Jack Slater, a fictional L.A. cop, in the same way that so many of us idolized Han Solo. Then one day Danny's personal friend Mick, an elderly theater projectionist, gives him a magic ticket that was given to him by Houdini, just before Danny gets to watch the latest Slater film all by himself, before anyone eles does. (Jack Slater 4). Danny watches as the film introduces the two bad guys, who've kidnapped Slaters cousin Frank. The scene shifts to two nameless cops (who of course ... Read More:

Die Hard: With a Vengeance

starring: Bruce Willis, Jeremy Irons, Samuel L. Jackson, Graham Greene (II), Colleen Camp
directed by: John McTiernan

May 14, 1996
John McTiernan returned to direct this second follow-up to McTiernan's original DIE HARD from 1988, but unfortunately all his considerable skill and energy can't rise above screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh's generic script. DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE could easily have been LETHAL WEAPON 4 (maybe it almost was), and the script does little to make it stand out from other buddy action-movies (although Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson undoubtedly do work well together). As for the action scenes, they're certainly well-executed, but there's just no real momentum connecting the action scenes the way there was in the second half of DIE HARD 2. In VENGEANCE, there's just one action scene piled upon another, and the whole thing simply feels like an incoherent mess, which certainly was not the case ... Read More:

Die Hard Tril.

starring: Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson, Paul Gleason, De'voreaux White
directed by: John McTiernan

May 14, 1996
Die Hard defined the concept of tension, with McClane trapped in a building, maybe in elevator shafts, trying to kill the terrorists, save his wife, and destroy the building. Die Hard 2 started the mayhem all over again, as McClane found himself up against terrorists trying to rescue a drug kingpin, taking over Dulles International Airport, grounding all airplanes and leaving them trapped in the air and running out of fuel, AND screwing the passengers up in the process. Die Hard with A Vengeance showed Hans Gruber (the terrorist leader in the original)'s brother up for revenge. Him and his terrorists place bombs throughout the city of NYC to cover up a massive heist, worth all the gold in the Federal Reserve, and trick McClane into thinking it's an act of revenge. Overall the series is wildly entertaining, ... Read More:
