Every once in awhile I like a little dose of film noir. Throw in a dark setting with some creepy characters and I'm good to go. But FEMALE PERVERSIONS fell short of the genre: it was just plain weird. Let's face it, if I wish to be confronted by surreal, one-dimensional people with absolutely no clue I can go to a professional wrestling match. Or go visit my attorney, take your pick. Yet this flick is even more meaningless than Dewey, Cheatum & Howe (my lawyer's firm), and its subsequent perversions are more demeaning than they are perverted.
What's with the lead character in this movie? Tilda Swinton, a most fragile-looking beauty, is miscast in the lead role as a successful, aggressive attorney up for a judgeship by the ... Read More:

Well I guess Sean best role is still 'Just Jack'. Movie is very boring even it is quiet unique. I really belive that Sean that played Billy can do better. Movie starts very promissing but sometimes at the middle loosing it's charm. Movie worth to watch but don't waste money on this one for collection.

This is one of the most clichéd films I've EVER had to sit through. I can't believe somebody had the nerve to recommend this movie. I can't believe I was foolish enought to take their word at face value. This wasn't entertaining; it was unbelievably BORING. The plot is little more than a few pages out of an unremarkable relationship collated and stapled together. The acting stunk, and parts of the soundtrack seemed borrowed from a nightclub DJ. At other times, quintessential folksy female-vocal-and-acoustic-guitar tunes were used to set the mood for male-free intimacy. Gee, how novel. It offered no insight into either people or relationships, gay or otherwise. And this film is supposed to be funny? Where and when does this horrible flick ever become ... Read More:

Sherry from Outlook Press has already hit the high points of plot and characters (see her thorough, capable review here on this site), so I will spare a rehash and instead talk about themes.
What I liked best about this movie was the sense of history that the characters had with one another. They've been friends a long time, and they display toward one another that sometimes cautious balance and sometimes reckless running-off-at-the-mouth that good friends so often do. None of them want to hurt the others, and yet with so much history, sometimes even the most innocuous observation can cut to the quick. At the same time, it is just those sorts of observations or comments that are the impetus for the small changes the characters make in this one weekend they spend ... Read More:

While I appreciate any and all lesbian movies, simply by virtue of the fact that there are so few of them, this certainly wouldn't fit into my Top 10 list. Cute but terribly corny and predictable. The dialog and acting leave much to be desired. I'm glad to have seen this "classic" lesbian flick, but there are much better movies out there: Fire, Lost and Delirious, The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love, Go Fish, Better Than Chocolate, among others.

"Rope", a film based on a play and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, is a well-made thriller that entertains the spectator, but that is far from being perfect.
I must say that the story is original, and that the beginning is quite shocking. The two main characters are Brandon and Philip (John Dall and Farley Granger), two young men that commit a crime just to see if they can get away with murder. As if killing another man weren't enough, they decide to tempt fate, hiding the body in a trunk, where it could easily be discovered, and inviting some people to dinner. Their guests include, among others, the victim's parents, his girlfriend and an old schoolteacher that gets increasingly suspicious regarding Brandon and Philip's actions. The schoolteacher (James Stewart) doesn't know exactly ... Read More:

The movie handled this touchy topic well enough for it's time period, but now it feels very dated. There are some nice moments, such as when the straight cop finds out what it's like to be on the other end of the prejudice spectrum, from the inside. However, it really annoyed me that all the gay charactes were portrayed as complete stereotypes: drama queen or leather daddy. There seems to be nothing in between.

This has got to be one of the greatest films ever. The story, the plot, the acting is just amazing. Al Pacino is an original in this film. Once you watch it once, you will want to watch it over and over again. Great movie to watch on a hot weekend, summer afternoon.

John Huston's "Reflections In A Golden Eye" is one of his lesser-known works. This overlooked film is a riveting piece of Cinema. He brought together the unlikely combination of Carson McCuller's southern gothic novel along with the talents of Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, and Julie Harris to create a fascinating study of deceit, lies, and murder. Julie Harris brings to the project her unique blend of neurosis and pathos. She inhabits the role as Allison the mentally fragile wife of Brian Keith fully, coloring her role with the nuance of madness. Keith gives his best performance as the philandering husband of Harris and the bumbling lover of Taylor. It is his finest hour on the screen. His pathetic recollection of his lost wife is acted with subtlety and feeling and proves his metal as an actor. Read More:
