I agree with everything that's been said, and I'd also look to mention the completely lack of conflict within the movie. It's amazing, there's almost nothing to work against, and very little tension. Maybe it's because we know now that space flight was possible, but it's still amazing to see a movie about the moon landing where the plotline is: We wanted to go the moon, we trained to go the moon, and then we landed on the moon. There's about five minutes there where it looks like James Caan isn't going to find the docking station on the moon and die from a lack of oxygen...but then he turns around, and oh yeah! There it is! Just behind me.

I haven't seen Homeward Bound in almost a decade (I eventually lost the VHS tape our family bought a few months after it hit theaters), but I have so many fond memories of it as a teen. I absolutely adored this movie back then, and I still do now. Homeward Bound is wonderful for all audiences, and it isn't something parents would hate sitting through. I've been going through all the movies I loved when I was young, and nearly all of them are entertaining for everyone, and didn't try to dumb anything down for their target audience. It's a shame that there's been a somewhat recent shift in what's "suitable" even for a PG movie. PG movies are much more tame than they were from before 1996. Where to begin?

The piano music is so dramatic and appealing to the situations. Is the piece the German fellow plays a Mahler composition? Sounds like Mahler. Email me if you know! :)

The recurring themes might be hard to pick up on the first time you view the film...re-watching is greatly recommended.

The plight of La Resistance as well as the Jews is artistically overlapping in betrayal, greed, and especially rage.

Most importantly, for me, is the urge to simply cry. The pathos in this film are so common and low that anyone could empathize with the characters. I remeber seeing this on TV when I was growning up, and I liked it. Davis is magnificient as the matriarch of a family with problems (which family doesn't!). She is at home in this New England setting, baking bread and stirring up trouble. She is desperately trying to keep her family together, despite their resistance. It is a good movie to watch as the weather gets colder, as I remeber the interior sets being cozy, and the exterior shots are gorgeous of the New England Fall. It is also a good film to watch before the holidays, to possibly examine your own family's issues, and how you would (or wouldn't) want to deal with them.

I purchased this dvd at a Best Buy store for $4.99, and after watching a few minutes of it, realized I wasted my money. There is not a single time during the course of this movie that there isn't dirt, grain etc all over the picture. With the technology available today, this could be digitally remastered and cleaned up. Avoid this dvd at all costs! It's a shame it's a good movie and deserves a better edition. I will be very careful in the future when buying movies from Goodtimes entertainment.

i liked "Gremlins" a lot.i thought it was well acted and funny.it also
had some black humour,which i liked.i liked the look of the
gremlins.they would probably be scary for some children.they are quite
freaky looking.i thought the puppetry was amazing.for the most part it
really looked like these creatures were doing what the movie showed
them doing.the gremlins were hysterical at times in what they said and
how they acted.this is my idea of a good horror/comedy.it balances both
elements well.it think the potential was there for the movie to be
really awful,but good writing makes all the difference.anyway,i really enjoyed
the movie.for me,"Gremlins" is a 4/5

This was a very interesting film. I could see how someone could be confused when watching this movie. You really have to watch it start to finish, or you could easily get lost. Although it truly is a beautiful movie. I have yet to be disappointed my Robert De Niro or Terry Gilliam. They have their own unequness that makes all of their movies superb.

i wouldn't say it's a comedy.it's not a bad movie.it's billed as part
comedy,but i wouldn't really say it's a comedy.i think it's more a
crime drama,with a bit of lite humour thrown in.there are one or two
mildly amusing moments,but nothing i would consider funny.the premise
is good.Arnold Schwarzeneggar plays a cop who has to go undercover as a
kindergarten teacher.i think they could have exploited this fish out of
water angle more in depth and longer.still the movie is actually
entertaining for the most part,as a crime drama.Arnold again teams up
with director Ivan Reitman(their previous collaboration was Twins).i
