This a John Wayne film like no other. Take it from a huge fan that's seen most of his movies. Although this is not classified as a comedy, the Duke's turns in a sly performance full of great one-liners and facial expressions that had me rolling. Its action adventure in the oil fields and it's very entertaining and fun. Wayne is Cowboy Dan Somers and he competes with oilman Jim Gardner for oil lease rights on Indian land in Oklahoma, as well as for the favors of schoolteacher Cathy Allen. It has a good supporting cast including George "Gabby" Hayes. You will never see the Duke quite like this in any other role. If you're a fan of the Duke, this film is a must so track down a copy while you can. It was originally titled "In Old ... Read More:

An unusual wartime comedy-romance, starring the ever-delectable Jean Arthur as a big-city girl who takes a bus tour out West to see some of the world, and gets a real eyeful when she hooks up with John Wayne, a lanky, laconic cowboy who's rambling around on the rodeo circuit. The script is fairly minimal, and many scenes even seem improvised, but what's remarkable is the underlying sexual frankness of the film -- the two meet by accident, and are inexorably drawn together by sheer sexual chemistry. When they finally give in and go out on a real date, they have nothing to say to each other -- the attraction is purely physical. Certain scenes, such as when he invites her up to his hotel room, offers her a drink, and bed to bunk in, are surprisingly ... Read More:

Yikes, some people just don't like Paul Hogan, do they? After seeing a surprisingly negative review of this movie when I logged on to buy the DVD, I decided to add my two cents. This is a VERY entertaining movie. It's well-paced, originally plotted and funny! Really. As the two heroes of the story fumbled their way through one sloppy crime after the other, I chuckled and looked forward to each new scene. This is not just for hardcore Western lovers. My mother enjoyed it, my kid loved it, my brother liked it, etc. That's why I'm buying it. Of course, I happen to like my westerns light -- think of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Quigley Down Under, Silverado, Support Your Local Sheriff, Shanghai Noon, etc. I give it 5 stars for being purely entertaining. ... As a First Nations woman from Canada, I have watched this movie dozens of times and it never fails to make me weep. This movie acknowledges the depth and width of all aspects of the once noble people of this land. The true serenity of giving is regarded. I applaud the movie developers. How authentic and wonderfully crafted a story of truth. This movie teaches my non-Native friends of who I am - in part. We are all in part seeking the full measure of who we are. Truly an inspiring and well crafted story.
Each time I watch this movie I am swept away by a somber reality, of mystery and a satisfaction of inner harmony of what it means to be First Nations.

The Cherokee Kid is a fun film from start to finish. I truly enjoyed the movie all the way through. The plot is simple, its your classic revenge story where Sinbad's parents where killed and vows revenge the man that killed his parents. The fun part is how he transforms for the young child with no real skills to survive in the west to one of the "Greatest Gun Slingers of All Time". If you have a little time and want to see a Sinbad film with decent acting and fun plot, then this is your film.
