I was a bit skeptical about this game, having not really been that impressed with NHL08; I preferred NHL 2K8 to be honest. But I was anxious to try both 2K9 as well as NHL09 to best compare the two - it was no contest - NHL09 is amazing! I haven't stopped playing since I picked it up and there's just so much to this game: 'Be A Pro' mode is simply the most fun I've had playing a hockey game in a long time. I highly recommend this to any true hockey fan, you will not be disappointed whatsoever.

Nothing new here in the latest release of 2K sports. NHL 2K9 is EXACTLY the same as the 08 version (except for the 2K Beats songs and the new commentary). A lot of the new players do not have pictures (ex: Carey Price & Sergei Kostitsyn), and that shows you how much effort 2K put in this game. On top of that, the roster dates from the end of the last season. Even the downloadable roster is dated from the 20th of may (ex: Hossa is still in Pittsburg). Plus, I do not agree with a LOT of their overall ratings. Thank god it is possible to edit the players and boost their ridiculously low ratings.

If you own NHL 2K8, just download the roster update and don't bother buying this game.
