 Rating:  - Excellent revision.If you're thinking of getting into tabletop fantasy roleplaying games, then really, this is the game for you. There's a reason it's a classic that has lasted some 30-odd years, and this new revision will show you why. I started playing D&D way back in 2nd edition, when the rules were weird enough to melt your brain, but this new version is absolutely as simple and easy-to-follow as rules can be. Even if you've got no one to teach you, grab your friends and the three core books (the Players Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Masters Guide), and get to playing. It's really that easy. Guiding you through every step of character creation, from choosing a race and class, rolling up stats, outfitting your character ... Every player should have a copy of this book, along with a set of dice. It is possible to run an entire gaming session with only the players handbook; but in order to get the most from the game the DM should also have copies of the Dungeon Masters Guide and the Monster Manual. It is also called the Core Rulebook I. This book tells you how to create and play your character. This is the only book required for the players. You will also need a special set of dice and paper/pencil, and in some campaigns, a figure to represent your character in the game. This book has everything you need to flesh out and equip your characters as well. A very nice table of contents. And is a well-made hardcover book, if you plan to run a campaign you will need as a minimum everything listed above plus, The Dungeon Master's Guide and the Monster Manual.
