Editorial Review: Amazon.co.uk Review: As the room fills with poison gas, you and Qui-Gon race down the hall and stop in front of five Trade Federation droids. Your lightsabre hums to life as you and your master block and reflect the hail of blaster bolts, leaving the offending droids in pieces. As your enemies grow to seemingly hopeless numbers, you extend your hand in a Jedi force push. Again all that is left are fried circuits. Leaping over chasms, destroying droid armies, saving entire planets is all in a day's work when you are a Jedi. And we all want to be Jedi... right? In Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace, you assume the roles of Obi Wan, Qui-Gon, Queen Amidala and Captain Panaka as they struggle to save Naboo and defeat the Trade Federation's sinister agents. Exciting battles, terrific sound effects and a true-to-the-movie storyline make this game a treat for any Star Wars fan. The graphics could be sharper, but the overall Star Wars experience is not diminished by this fact. Instead, the gameplay itself takes you away from an immersive Star Wars feel: it's just strange to see a Jedi use a rocket launcher. Most of us would hope that lightsabres would cut through just about anything, but sadly this is not the case--some robots even need to be hit multiple times before they go down. And it's just sad to see a Jedi's progress in an outdoor level blocked by simple shrubbery. Still, like the movie itself, Star Wars: Episode One, The Phantom Menace overcomes its minor flaws to deliver a thrilling experience. --Allen Stewart Pros:

The graphics may not the best ever but the way in which you are forced to use your brain as well as purely blast things to pieces makes it well worth buying! Rating:  - A bit of a failure!The pictures are poor and you can only use one lightsabre move. It's very hard for kids. When you block shots it doesn't block every shot and you can only use one force power. The droids are easy to destroy but it's a pain when the droids keep running away from you because they're scared. When you push crates they don't go in exactly the right direction that you want them to go. When you walk on logs your player keeps falling off even if you're using the right arrow key. A bit of a failure! Age 8 Rating: - really goodthis game is the best!i really like the missions and weapons.good in its time! Rating: - ExcellentBoth me and my son think this is an excellent game. It has kept us amused for hours. Just when you think you have found all you can know, you discover another alleyway, health pack or weapon. My son is more adventurous than me and kills goodies as well as baddies to obtain items instead of having to talk to them. Overall still the best game we have found. Rating: - excellent gamea great game for young and old alike.my 8 year old son had so much fun with this and my husband came close to tears laughing at him.a well apportioned game for all ages!!! |
