Editorial Review: Amazon.co.uk Review: Little Leap is another excellent toy from LeapFrog, which is recommended for children aged two years and upward. It has been specifically designed to teach in a fun and friendly way. There are four separate games each teaching the alphabet, phonics, vocabulary and colours, which can be activated by pressing Little Leap's right hand. Game one: learn the Alphabet and phonics by pressing any letter to hear a song about its name and sound or sounds. Game two: learn colours by pressing any letter to hear its colour. Game three: Letters and Phonics Quiz--Little Leap asks a child to find a letter based on its name and sound. Colour clues are also given and before/after clues. Game four: look at Little Leap's story book, choose a letter then press that letter on Little Leap's chest to hear a story about the friend represented by the letter. These games are great fun and are really small-child friendly. Children are stimulated to learn without really knowing it and the early stages of reading development--letters and sounds, recognition of letters and sounds and sounds becoming words--are catered for. There is also an excellent interactive rhythmical and melodic alphabet song that stops at different places asking for the next letter. Playing with Little Leap offers wonderful opportunities to develop motor skills, cognitive and memory skills, for exploration and creativity and it can help to develop a child socially. This product has been well thought out and although produced for the US market, the American accent doesn't detract from the enjoyment of learning.  Rating:  - Not that greatI bought this toy going on previous reviews, and how disappointed I was, I must admit for a durable toy this definitely gets the thumbs up, however, it's marketed as a learning device and I wouldn't advise any one to buy it if you're looking for an educational toy, the audio is of low quality and even my wife and I had trouble trying to hear what was being said half the time, if you’re looking for an education toy, then I would recommend 'alphabet pal' which is also sold on Amazon by the same company that brought you this toy and is far superior. I guess you get what you pay for is the moral here. Rating:  - Little leapOur little leap is used by two kids, one with special needs who has learned a huge amount from it, and one without, ditto. It has managed to withstand their energy, and keep them entertained to the point where they don't realise that they are learning! They love singing along with it, and for an 'electronic' toy, it really encourages interaction and participation, not just continuous button-pressing followed by irritating noises. Worth the money for durability, education and keeping sane - a toy that's friendly to kids and parents!! |
