Amazon.co.uk Review: The Dreamcast system is, in a word, awesome. Whether its Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi or even Virtua Tennis you will instantly appreciate that the graphics and gameplay are even better than the arcade versions.
It's amazing that such a small machine (it's about the size of your mousepad) can deliver such incredible performance. Chalk it up to superior engineering.
In order to truly take advantage of Dreamcast's capabilities, we recommend outfitting the controller with a vibration pack and a Visual Memory Unit. Getting one or more extra controllers is also a good idea, since some of the best Dreamcast games support up to four players at once, and a keyboard is almost a must if you plan to use the Dreamcast for sending e-mail and accessing the Web a lot.

This console was the last in a long line of failing machines (in terms of numbers sold). Ther console came in the final stages of the 64 bit (PS, Ps1 nintendo 64 etc) era and was amazing. It was the first console to be approaching 6th era (PS2, Xbox etc) hardware and lagged little behind the nintendo gamecube in terms of hardware, despite being released far earlier.
There were plans for earlier 6th era titles to be released for it, such as half life, but many did not go ahead due to its financial trouble. This is, however a very well made console, with some features coming up to the PS2's level of hardware. Very ahead of its time - and quite expensive.
The Dreamcast failed to restabilise SEGA's financial problems, and ... Read More:

OK so in many ways the Dreamcast was a good solid console.. Released in the West in 1999 with graphics comparable to the PC's of the time it did make the other two competing consoles (the N64 and especially the Playstation) look fairly obsolete in comparison.
However time wasn't very kind to Sega's poor console as the PS2 tore Sega's little white box to shreds..
The 'exclusives' released for it include many [[Slightly overrated in my opinion classics]] including:
Jet Grind Radio (ported to Xbox)
Rez (Ported to PS2 and Live Arcade)
MSR (Ported to the original Xbox under the guise of Project Gotham Racing nuff said)
Shenmue (Sequel at least ported to Xbox)
House of The Dead 2 (HOTD 3 and ... Read More:

The Sega Dreamcast was dropped right onto a rickety bridge from the moment it was released. Sega were in debt and losing money, and Sony were planning the PS2, which after years of typical set-backs, was released 2 Years later. But, for a just short time between 1999 and 2002, their was indeed a period where the Dreamcast had it's tight followers, which shamefully, wasn't for long enough.
1999. Ahh... those numbers spell lots of ££££, and for the first time in the history of commercialism, companies were making record numbers of them because of this new number... '2000'. And so what fitting year for a revolution to come about than the year before Millennium x 2? I can clearly remember the awe that surrounded the Dreamcast; such was ... Read More:

The Dreamcast is one of the best consoles ever made the games are totally awesome it had games such as soul calibur, shenmue 2,crazy taxi 2,giga wing, trizeal and many others, the consoles like ps3,xbox 360 don't have many quality games like the dc, still i'm playing on the dc right now which has really good games no need to buy another console at higher price at all, there are few companies still release import games there's been new games trizeal, under defeat, chaos field which are all great shooters, try the dc and buy it straightway.
