Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Easily one of the best add-on packs to emerge on the PC in recent memory, Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour adds not just new levels to the hit strategy game, but a whole new game mode too. So let's start with that. The idea is that you go head-to-head against one of nine enemy generals, each of whom has a tactic they specialise in and some manner of insult to hurl in your direction. Then you need to factor in that you're playing on their ground and that they will have a better position in their territory than you. That established, you get a finite amount of time to get your base built before they start attacking. It's relentless stuff and all the more enjoyable for it. This whole mode justifies the price of the expansion pack alone.

But you do get a lot more for your money. There are new single-player missions, a lot more multi-player maps, new weapons to get your paws on and an improved visual style. Also, there's a hardened difficulty level, which does cause frustration in the early stages, but is far from insurmountable.

Perhaps it goes without saying that this is a good buy for those who bought Command & Conquer: Generals. However, the effort, enhancements and improvements you get make it pretty much unmissable. Let's hope that more expansion packs follow the standard set out here. --Simon Brew

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Hey its good fun
I just had to post any refer to the person who above said this game does not run on a computer running Xp and service pack 2, Simply it does. I have had this game a couple of days now i got it with the Double pack including Generals itself. I installed both Generals and the Zero Hour expansion and have been enjoying it since i got it. Currently playing through the single player i can say it is good fun. I have not had a go with the skirmish mode so i could not comment on that. But the game so far has got me coming back for more. I will be playing through all the different single player campaigns before having a go with the skirmish or multiplayer options. At the price this and the generals double pack comes at if you have the money you should ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Expansion pack ever?
I bought this originally with Generals, and had to complete the first anyway (also a great buy), but this combined with the originl is like Chelsea being taken over by Abrahimovich.

So, you get loads of new units (I can recommend the Air Force General), and General selection, which enable new units for your personal choice. World Builder has lots of new stuuf, and maps in skirmish have been enhanced too. With so much to do, it's no wonder it has retained it's novelty after three years of use (that's both the games).

Buy it; you'll have no regret.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - unplayable rubbish
don't be taken in by the looks. first up, this game will not run on a pc running XP service pack 2. yet another example of games makers thinking they know best...
secondly, the game is by far the single worst example of "game balance" i've ever had the misfortune to encounter. the difference between the easy setting and the medium setting is that on easy, the enemy has nothing but a basic arsenal. on medium, they've got everything and can make it all twice as fast as you can. i have no idea what the other settings are like, i don't waste my time with trash like this, i just uninstall it.
the intros are far too drawn out, making you want to strangle the game before you even get to the battlefield.
the original generals was a reasonable, ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Game
This game is amazing, the graphics are good and the gameplay is intense. Please note that when you buy the game, don't buy it for the minimum specs listed, if you buy the game for a PC with the minimum specs then you will not enjoy as much! You need at least 512 ram and a good 1.2 ghz to play it!

But great game and amazing graphics, well worth every penny!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great expansion pack; must have for all C&C Generals fans!
This an amazing expansion pack which improves on all aspects of an already good game. It won the IGN award for best expansion pack and from reading other reviews it is obvious that many people agree.

The greatest addition for me was the creation of 3 seperate factions for each team, making a total of 12 teams to choose from, each with specific advantages, units and disadvantages. Although each new faction has its core from one of the original teams, they all feel like totally different sides. This aspect is the real reason to buy the game, especially if you played the orginal Generals online (and no, you only need a 56k line to play). The sheer varity online is fantastic, everyone plays differently and the new teams help everyone to play to ... Read More:
