 Rating: - Great sound, great featuresI have just received this as a present to ourselves for use on holiday, at home, away in hotels. And it seems just great. It feels very well made - robust and good quality but still compact enough. It is easy to use with a very good FM reception - better than our portable Sony. And the sound quality is really superb for the size of the radio. The designer should be really pleased with themselves, and we look forward to years and years of no batteries, using the solar power, wind-up, and mains rechargable options as convenient. 5 stars plus! Rating: - No need to ever buy batteries and excellent sound, tooThis is a brilliant product; a portable radio which you only need to plug in to the mains once in a while. Most of the time you can re-charge its battery using the solar panel or wind-up handle. The battery needs an initial charge from the mains, and an occasional boost (because you'll get the best life from the battery pack if you drain it completely and charge it again from fresh, every six months or so). But for most normal use you spend 30 seconds turning the handle and that gives you 30 minutes or more of radio. The Freeplay Summit picks up FM-MW-LW-AM frequencies, so you can catch most stations other than digital. There is a digital version too, but it's quite a bit more expensive. It is well made, very sturdy, and has feaures you would not expect. A friend saw it, gave it a try and went out and vbought one for his little french caravan. Freeplay are know for their build quality, and are still pushing the boundaries. There is a DAB radio as well but the coverage in the UK is patchy outside of big cities. I highly recommend this radio to anyone. |
