Editorial Review: Manufacturer's Description: The D-NE900 has an ultra-slim design style while offering easy file navigation via its large LCD and Jog Dial. While ATRAC compression technology keeps offering the benefit to pack 30 CD's worth of music onto 1 CD-R/RW, significant improvements in compression bitrates have allowed the user to compress music with a sound quality level very near to original CD. On top of that, the new PC music jukebox functionality allows users to easily rip their CD's, buy and download music from the Internet, create their own playlists and burn directly to CD-R. Major leaps forward have been made in ATRAC technology, the compressed audio format which Sony originally developed for MiniDisc ten years ago and which lies at the heart of Sony's Network Audio devices. The ATRAC3plus format has extended its bitrate compression rates from 48- and 64- to also 256kbps, delivering playback quality that is very close to original CD. All ATRAC CD WALKMAN models feature a parametric equalizer to allow users to fine-tune the tone of their sound. The D-NE900S comes with SonicStage 2.0 software. This latest version includes a PC music jukebox, an essential function for any true network audio device as it allows users to manage their music on their PC and directly burn their favourite playlists and compilations.  Rating: - Desert island Sushi festI am writing a petition to send the Sony person who invented this MP3 CD player out to the desert island of their choice and given as much Saki and Sushi to eat as they like, for as long as they like, with free massage by attractive men / women. This item has given me an awful lot of pleasure over the last 3 months, It's reliable, the batteries last ages, the sound is great, the anti skip protection actually works (for a change), and the extra clip on controller they give you even lights up and to tell you what track its about to play FOR PETES SAKE!!. What more do you want? I Thoroughly recommended it. Rating: - You know it makes sense...This is so small and light.......the sound is superb. All you need to do is dump the headphones and replace them with Shure E2c earphones ( which are actually better than the more expensive E3s ..and dont fall apart like some of the more expensive sony upgrades.) Also dont bother with Attrac ..just rip to MP3 and enjoy . Also if you dont mind lugging a few cds around with you.......you will have even better sound. But for standard MP3s with 700 mb of music on a disc that you can buy for 15p this is a cheaper and much more flexible alternative to an ipod or anything else at the moment. Also the software is very easy to use , and the group function on the player allows easy navigation though the albums you put on. The player itself is very well built and robust. 85 hours playback with great choice of sound types and easy navigation !! You cant beat it. If you buy this you wont be disappointed. Rating: - BrilliantI looked at a lot of CD players before buying the Sony D-NE900 and i thought it was magnificant. when u see it in the picture imust say it looks much betetr when u hold it in your hands and feel how light it is. it is kinda shaped like a space ship but despite the looks the thing that i gound really interesting about this beauty was the size and the battery life ( a massive 85 hours) it is tres bonne!!! the cradle is very good and is very useful. It came packaged very safely within two days with everything you need including a mains adapter/charger, ear phones, rechargable batteries and the software for ATRAC3/ATRAC3PLUS.
