Amazon.co.uk Review: Even the most ardent of Shrek fans would have to admit that so far the games based on the big green goofball haven’t quite been up to scratch. In fact they’ve been completely rubbish. Shrek 2, based directly on the new movie, is a step back in the right direction.
At its core the game is a sort of scrolling beat-'em-up, interspersed with numerous little puzzles to overcome as you try to navigate the various fairytale realms. What makes things a lot more interesting is that you actually manage a team of four characters at a time, taking control of one at a time and having the other three follow along behind. The defaults include Shrek, Fiona and Donkey, but you also get to use Gingerbread Man, Lil' Red, Puss in Boots and The Big Bad Wolf.
The best bit is that if you can get three friends to help, then one person can actually control a character each, which really livens things up. But even in single player mode any of the characters can get a chance to take part in a "Hero Time" mini-game that provides a enjoyable respite from the main game as you take a ride on a dragon with Donkey or indulge in a singalong with Fiona.
Although the graphics are impressive (much more so than the sound, which doesn’t feature the original movie cast), the main gameplay can get a bit monotonous. But for Shrek fans and general young 'uns there’s more to enjoy here than with most film licenses. --David Jenkins

As a huge Shrek fan, I bought this game as soon as it was released. I was pleased to discover that the game was not just a rushed movie tie-in and could quite easily stand as a great game in its own right. Luckily te Shrek license just adds to this great game.
The gameplay is fast, frantic and furious button bashing - however this is mixed with just the right amount of puzzle solving and mini games. These include chasing a carriage while riding a dragon or finding a needle in a haystack! You can play as one of the 4 characters on screen by simply changing character at any time - you just hit L or R. Each character has special moves and this adds to the gameplay as you require some characters to do certain tasks. It's a good idea and ... Read More:

AFTER BEING A LITTLE SCEPTICAL ABOUT THE TITLE OF THIS GAME AS I A, WELL, HOW CAN I PUT IT, A LITTLE OLDER THAN THE AGE RANGE LISTED ON THE GAME BOX, I SAT DOWN AND BEGAN TO PLAY. AFTER BEING A GREAT FAN OF THE 1ST MOVIE I WAS UNSURE OF WHAT TO EXPECT DUE TO THE 2ND MOVIE NOT BEING RELEASED UNTIL A NUMBER OF WEEKS AFTER THE GAMES WAS ISUED. TO MY SURPRISE, THERE WAS ABSOLUTLY NOTHING TO HAVE WORRIED ABOUT. THE GAMEPLAY WAS FAST AND FURIOUS, YOU HAD FULL CONTROL OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS SIMULTANIOUSLY, (4 IN ALL) EACH WITH THEIR OWN SPECIAL MOVES AND ABILITIES BUT DONT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF IT IN ANY WAY. THE GAME IS VERY EASY TO CONTROL AND WILL HAVE YOU HOOKED FOR MANY HOURS DUE TO THE COMIC COMMENTS FROM THE CAST WHICH WE HAVE COME TO KNOW AND LOVE ... Read More:
