Product Description: The Legend of Zelda: the game that defined adventure gaming. Embark on a quest to find the Triforce, slay Ganon and save Princess Zelda in this enduring epic that single-handedly invented the adventure genre. It's part of the NES Classic series of specially priced masterpieces! Before she was captured by the Dark Lord Ganon Princess Zelda scattered the pieces of the Triforce across her beloved Hyrule. Link must reassemble the Triforce and defeat Ganon before he can free the princess.

Why Nintendo decided to resurrect this as a "NES classic" is beyond me. Actually it isn't - it enabled them to make money without expending any effort, which seems to have become a speciality of theirs in the handheld gaiming market of late - but it is true to say that this does not show them at the peak of their game. Firstly, though, I must give the game its fair dues. It was revolutionary in its time and laid the foundation for perhaps the greatest gaiming series of all time (the relative shoddiness of some recent instalments notwithstanding), with - in "Link to the Past" and "Ocarina" - arguably the two best games ever. Yet, judged on its own merit, this is disappointing stuff. It's hard to work out what you have to do next - ... Read More:

i love this game... its funny because its so simple graphically and it shows how graphics arn't always that important... when i play it its like im being constantly shocked at how good (and sometimes difficult) older games were. i played a Link to the past first, and when i play this it really gives me the same feeling i had when i played that all those years ago.it could just be the music, but i think its more that frantic obsession that seems to hit you after you've played it a few times, urging you to play it more.
good game to buy , i also like how you can get it for a portable console,it seems to fit well on a gameboy.

This is the very first Zelda game releaesed on the GBA! I still have this on the NES with the gold cartridge! Superb game, with at the time good graphics, gameplay was superb, with all these little quests you have to do to save the tri force and the princess. Loads of enemies to defeat, loads of secrets and hidden treasures to uncover and the weaponry in this game is brilliant! It truley is a master piece even today it is still an enjoyable game. Which brings me to say that tau_sigma from Ireland who rated the game as disappointing, you mustn't have a clue, this is a game from 1985, and back then, this game was incredible then even for 8 bit computers, and today its still as good as it was! It is deffintley not dissapointing, and I think ... Read More:

It spawned the greatest games series ever and is, justifiably, a classic. It is also majorly important because of it's ability to save on cart, a first, and for the many games that were influenced by it. None of this is disputable, but that doesn't mean to say that this is an altogether satisfying experience.
At the time this came out it was revolutionary and a unique gaming experience, but if you are coming back to it it probably is best served as a nostalgia piece. If you have played other Zeldas from A Link to the Past onwards then this may prove to be a bit of a shock to you, and if you are new to the entire Zelda series then, ironically enough, this probably isn't the one to start with.
So what's the problem with the ... Read More:

I picked up this game thinking it would be another great Zelda adventure, but I was bitterly disappointed with how monotonous and bland it was. The hack and slash adventure and exploration can be entertaining, but the game is much too difficult and laborious to be truly enjoyable. The sounds and visuals are also very primitive. I still have a lot of respect for this game though, when I think about the incredible franchise it started. It's just like they say: "Every journey starts with a single step". That couldn't be truer in relation to this game. :)
