Amazon.co.uk Preview: In a nutshell: In the increasingly crowded world of World War II-inspired shooters, the Call of Duty series is the oft-challenged king. Call of Duty 2 adds improved friendly and Nazi artificial intelligence (which means understanding a few words of German can make the difference between knowing the enemy is advancing on the left as opposed to the right flank) as well as some beautiful visual effects, most impressive of which is the smoke, which now billows and authentically blankets parts of the battlefield in a fog of war.
The lowdown: The yells of your men mix with the bellowing of the storm troopers in skirmishes that already feel heady and confusing, adding to the sensation of being in a real conflict. Intense, chaotic and making full use of Xbox 360’s Dolby Digital surround sound, Call of Duty 2 looks as though it will create a new benchmark for console simulations of the last World War.
Most exciting moment: Clearing houses of those last few concealed Nazis is nerve-racking and highly rewarding, as is lobbing a smoke grenade into the bunker of a particularly troublesome machine-gunner before storming it in the resulting blackout.
Since you ask: If you liked TV’s Band of Brothers, listen up, because virtually the entire cast appears to have signed up to provide voiceovers for the game.
The bottom line: Unlike smoking behind the bike sheds, this is shaping up to be big, hard and clever. This is an almost identical review to the guy before me, except I started on COD4 (still loving it), COD3 (let down, will never play again) and now COD2 (brilliant).
Can't believe I almost missed this little gem.......can't believe how much fun it is shooting Germans.......it never seems to wear thin.
You should probably read the other reviews for more game info. I'm just here to recommend this game. It's fun, it's varied, no enormous cut scenes like COD3 (I hated that), straight into the action......Quality.
The reason why Infinity Ward are walking on water these days!!

I played COD 3 first. The single player was okay, but spoilt by stupid enemy AI and their constant respawning in the same spot over and over again. I played online for 4/5 months and enjoyed it but the weapons balancing was awful leaving the Axis teams a permanent disadvantage.
Then I played COD 4 - a beautiful but woefully short single player experience topped with the best multiplayer available on Xbox Live.
So now, 2 years too late, it's COD 2. What a game! The single player is simply the best WWII game ever. The use of live footage is so much better than the in-game graphics used in COD 3. Each mission feels natural, never forced or contrived. I played through on Veteran from the start and it was never stupidly ... Read More:

This was one of the first games to come out for the xbox 360 and by god it is one of the best! This game is soooo much better than call of duty 3. The graphics on this game are superb, the AI is brilliant and if you are really into the history of ww2 then you must get this game because it is one to go down in history.
You start of as a russian soldier named vasili ivanich koslov and you start of training mission during the battle of moscow when one of the other russian soldiers runs over and tells the captain they they have captured a german soldier. After this you take part in an exellent house-to-house fight across stalingrad. Then you fight your way through mayham bombing german tanks.
In the british campaign you will fight ... Read More:

It may not be as good as CoD4, its cheaper though, but for about £20 at the moment its worth it. Its similar to CoD3, but CoD3 has more things to offer, but not a lot and theres still alot of people online. Its fun, cheap, great graphics and one of the best WW2 games, even the best. Its one of the best war games ever. When I went to buy it there wasn't alot left. In one shop there was six and a few days later when I went to get it I got the last one. Its definately worth it.
