its just the same as sims deluxe but worse and the only way to play it is to make sure you have a new computer or games console which is a bit annoying because if you buy the games console at least 3 months before you get sims 2 it wont work

Having owned the PC version and having it stolen, I thought I'd get a console version to replace it because I tend to feel more comfortable playing games in that format. What a huge mistake that was. The game has been completely stripped and there is nothing in it, whatsoever, to keep your attention for more than 5 minutes. This game is truely awful.
So, if you are new to the Sims and are interested in playing this game, by all means - get the PC version. It is far superior in everyway. You have been told.

I have recently bought this game instead of the PC version, as our computer is too old and rubbish to play it. But, I have played it on my friends computer, and I loved it. I have to say, this game, although very good, is not quite the same as the PC version. Firstly, you can only have a house with one floor! And, there is no life in this, you can only be an adult. However, the story mode is a great feature of this game, and having direct control really helps. the classic control sucks it is really pathetic. I would have to say that you should only buy this if you can't get the PC version, as that is alot better.
