 Rating:  - Horrid, horrid, horridThe looks and the abilty to use a remote control to activate the radio when I am across the room really sold it to me and when I received it as a surprise gift the following week, you can imagine I was 'chuffed to bits'. Same problems as all the other reviewers. Switching between CD, FM and DAB was a little slow and the dimmer light, not dim enough but I thought, I'd become used to that. Unfortunately the increading volume on alarm made me send back model No.1 for a replacement. Model No. 2 I found was the same so, not wanting to be a Rachel from Friends and return the gift for a refund,I kind of programmed myself to wake 1 minute before the alarm went off! The CD stopped working after 13 months of ownership (12 months warranty). Finally ... Read More: Rating: - Looks promising but full of flawsI was quite impressed with this when I first turned it on, unfortunately there are many features and bugs that let it down. As has been said before, there is an annoying feature when the alarm goes off where the volume dramatically increases. This involves waking up and frantically pressing buttons so as not to wake up the neighbours and getting very frustrated in the process. (It does thoroughly wake you.) The volume up and down knob often sticks (as it did the first time I turned it) causing the device to turn to maximum or minimum volume. This is particularly noticable as the volume knob has to be used a lot to recover from the alarm feature. The worst bug is that the radio occasionally 'crashes' resulting in silence. BUT THE ALARM IS APPALLING!! After being kept awake longer than desirable by the glare of the time (dimming does not really make much difference here), you will be 'jolted' awake each morning (so will everyone else in your house). Trying to reduce the volume is a losing battle, it just keeps on increasing. Tried switching it off and back on, but this did not always work either. Read More: Rating: - Very poor designThis unit works OK in most respects, although I have had to reset it a couple of times and the switching between CD, FM and DAB is a little slow. The serious design fault is with the alarm, however. It is easy enough to set, but when the alarm comes on the volume progressively increases until it is at maximum. Grabbing the remote control and fumbling sleepily with the volume buttons brings the the volume down, *but* as soon as you give up the struggle it rockets back up to maximum. Eventually this stops and you can get the volume to a reasonable level, but you can forget about a relaxing start to the day. It has impressive looks, and specification, but if you want to use it's alarm clock function, then FORGET IT!! When waking up to Dab for instance, radio comes on pleasantly quietly. Fine!...then the volume steps up slightly, Still ok!...then it steps up again, then again...WWWHOOOAAAAA!!! If you think you are going to get woken up gently, think again! Probably more likely it will have you soiling your bed with fright!! Looks like this is the norm judging by other reviewers on here, and from Intempo's helpline.
