This is a great game, with a few bugs (in the bullfight, the 'bull' got stuck inside the floor, making him rather easy to finish off).
So why the low score? Well, I'm being very harsh. Why? Because they end the game with a escort level. I stopped the game there and then in absolute disgust. Who has ever enjoyed escort levels, where you have to look after a dumb AI character who is constantly in danger?
It's like eating the best meal ever, only to find half a dead mouse on the plate.

I am not much of a gamer but I am sure I KNOW what I enjoy! And this game is the definition of enjoyment! I believe the fact that there aren't many reviews on Psychonauts (at least not in Amazon) is the fact that it has indeed been 'hidden' from the World of Gaming. Somebody else has pointed out in an Amazon review for Psychonauts that he's more or less made it his task to promote this game so that it's not overshadowed by 'big' titles that in many cases do not offer even half as much as this game does. I totally agree with this gamer.
Take for example the imagination put into this game inter-weaved with true facts about the human brain and human psyche, this game is not only enjoyable but also educational. It is an absolute jewel ... Read More:

This game is as good as any on the PS2.
Xbox owner's rarely have a good range of original and good platformers with PS2 players having the edge on quality as well as quantity.
However this does show given enough room The xbox can really show its performance in a game.
You play Raz a weird little boy who breaks into the Psychonauts summer camp to learn and train to be a psychonaut .. a solider of the mind as you will.
He learns new skills as his powers grow and you explore more of the beautiful backgrounds and levels.
The interaction to the other kids in the camp is also humourous and brilliantly designed.
This is an intelligent platformer where sitting back and thinking of what to do next is just as important ... Read More:

Even though I'm not a particular fan of platform games, I felt obliged to buy this game after all the good reviews I read. I don't regret it one bit. The game is a very pleasant change from the other monotonous platformers you may have played. There is something in the game for everyone. There are lots of things that you can collect throughout the game that can result in bonus movies, slide shows, new powers or power upgrades. The different abilities that you can learn in the game are very cool and fun to execute. Different abilities (called PSI powers) include turning invisible, levitating, telikinesis, setting things on fire, or creating a reflective shield around yourself. The game is generally very light-hearted and had me laughing several times. The ... Read More:

Along with watching Withnail and I, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and listening to Never Mind by Nirvana and Definatley Maybe by Oasis, psychonauts is one of those rare artisitic creations that simply MUST be experienced by those aged 20 - 35. It really IS that good.
I've never written a review on here as I've never felt compelled to, but as someone that has played games pretty casually for about 15 years I cannot believe that this has slipped under the radar so easily. Its the first game I've ever played that is actually quotable.
As psych-cadet Raz, its your job to pass training camp and gain PSI powers such as levitation, marksmanship, telekinisis and the like. When you pass the childrens training camp and enter the main ... Read More:
