Editorial Review:
Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: It may have taken the world by storm with its huge range of genuinely innovative new games but there's no denying that the Nintendo DS is not exactly the most portable of portable consoles. That's all changed now with this sleek and sexy update.
The lowdown: When the Nintendo DS was first announced it was dismissed by many as a white elephant - with a gimmicky interface and underpowered graphics. Over 15 million sales later and the story is a little different. The DS Lite is fully compatible with all existing Nintendo DS (and Game Boy Advance) games but it's smaller, sleeker and lighter - with a new design that perfectly matches the Nintendo Wii console. The most impressive feature is the new backlit screens which offer the sharpest image ever seen on a portable console. The DS Lite is available in three separate colours: White, Black and Pink.
Most exciting feature: The DS Lite now has four brightness settings - the highest is brighter than even the PSP and is clearly visible in any lighting condition. That sound? That'll be Sony executives running to the hills - wearing sunglasses.
Since you ask: The Nintendo DS is the fast selling console ever in Japan. When the DS Lite was released, it sold out instantly, with queues of over 1,000 people a common sight.
The bottom line: The DS gets a face lift to become Nintendo's best looking portable ever. - Harrison Dent

This is a fun handheld games console but is very fragile the games are quite expensive but the console it's self is a brilliant price.

I got this handheld a while ago and eventually I couldn't use it. I went through 3 DS to fix the problem with it I had, and the problem was I had to press down really hard on the diagonals to make them respond. This wouldn't have been so bad, but it made my hand cramp up really badly. I persisted for a while with it thinking it may stop, but if anything it got worse.
When it comes to 2D games, then you won't have this problem, but for Mario 64 DS, and Metroid Hunters, it will just make your hand ache in agony.
I eventually sold my system with 3 games for £95. What was the point in keeping it when I couldn't use it?
Also the games are ridiculously over priced. They're like 30 quid a pop, and you can ... Read More:

Like one of the other reviewers I saw on Dec 19th that this was in stock and available for next day delivery. I placed the order literally within seconds. Needless to say I now know the item was not really in stock - I got emails telling me it would be delivered before Dec 24th and then just before Xmas a message saying the supplier had let Amazon down and it would be arriving sometime in February. Lesson learnt Amazon - with no route to complain about an order placed when there was stock (I checked after placing the order and it was still showing as available) customers are forced to leave product feedback.
I will continue to use Amazon for non-essential purchases. I trusted them to deliver and stopped my DS search believing ... Read More:

You cannot fault the Nintendo DS for its design and gaming experience, except for one flaw. It's durability.
I have had my Nintendo DS Lite for just over 12 months and hardly used it in that time, except to train my brain with Dr Kawashima. However, I am disappointed and annoyed that a crack has appeared in the hinge and a green dot on the touch screen, which is noticeable and distracting when playing games with dark images. It is literally just out of warranty and I will have to pay around half the price of a new DS to repair it. Ironically, the DS has not been man-handled but stored carefully in a carry case out of harm's way. So as a word of caution, keep your proof of purchase so you can claim under the 12 month warranty ... Read More:

The Lite makes the original DS look like a beta model. It's smaller; sturdier; endlessly stylish; has much softer, better buttons; has far better placement of features, especially the microphone and headphone sockets; has a thicker stylus. It's no longer wrist-breakingly heavy, and is basically superior in every conceivable way. Performance is of course the same, though the battery is possibly a little longer lasting and charges faster. If you have the money for it, I would definitely recommend upgrading your old DS.
As for games, there is so much quality covering most genres, from New Super Mario Bros to Elite Beat Agents to Pheonix Wright and more. Online functionality is dire compared to the PSP, but quite workable if you don't mind ... Read More:
