I have on the whole enjoyed the use of the Media Player notwithstanding the inexplicable lack of Tone Control and the initial difficulties in Set Up.
However, after careful use across the short period 17 months of ownership the Player has within the last few days, and without any warning, stopped working.
I have now referred to the Warranty which I now realise is only for 1 year.
In view of the fact that the Player cost me in the region of £270 I find the situation wholly unacceptable in respect of longevity and would therefore caution prospective purchasers accordingly.
I stress that it is in fact the R1000 to which I am referring but even after careful examination of the specifications ... Read More:

Had this a year now - absolutely fantastic. Great sound quality, excellent wireless connection - great controls and a fantastic interface. Hard to believe how good this actually is.
Mine came without the firmware upgrade, so had to knock off the WPA on the router, do an upgrade then turn it back on. Not exactly rocket science, but can see why this would be a problem for those unfamiliar.
Seriously, this is a great piece of kit and worth every penny.

I've had the Soundbridge radio for nearly a week now. I bought it to complement the Logitech squeezebox which has to be hooked up to a hifi system, since I wanted to access internet radio and my music collection anywhere in the house.
The set-up is not as straightforward as some would like us to believe. My problem was that my ISP is SKY broadband which uses WMA encryption and this is not supported by the version of the software which is loaded on the Soundbridge radio I received. I discovered through the users' forum that a more recent version does support WMA and that this could be downloaded. But, of course, my radio couldn't access the internet to receive the upgrade. Fortunately, the radio accepts an SD card and I had to dowmload ... Read More:

In many ways this is an excellent radio. It plays media streams efficiently and the controls are (for the most part) easy to use and intuitive. I have gotten grate enjoyment out of listening to it, and I would highly recommend it. That is why I’m giving it 4 stars.
However, there are a few issues that you should know about before you buy it.
1)Out of the box, the radio will only accept an open network, or the very unsecure and old WEP security setting. However, once you have upgraded to the latest version (which is done automatically) you can use the better WPE 2 standard. NOTE!! It will not accept WPE!! Only WPE2. Some of my wireless devices are now completely useless because they are not WPE2 compatible. So keep ... Read More:

I bought this unit becuase my brother in law recommended it. This was to be a replacement for a netgear mp101 that blew on me.
So it looks nice and it sits on top of my fridge rather nicely.
Sound quality is good for such a small unit, and setting it up to communicate with my wireless network was no problem at all. So I now have a number of local radio stations preset, plus the option of listening to lots and lots of internet radio stations.
This unit also allows you to stream your mp3/wma files, and it's happy if you use windows media player or even itunes, both of these programs found my soundbridge box.
I also have a NAS drive running twonky media player and again the soundbridge sees this ... Read More:
