Editorial Review: Product Description: The first game in the Assassin's Creed franchise is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history. Amazon.co.uk Preview: It's easy to see why there was so much fighting amongst the console manufacturers to try and make this game a format exclusive. Where early launch titles may have disappointed this game not only looks like a next generation game but it plays like it too. Taken at face value the story casts you as an Arabic fighter in 1191, out to assassinate the nine Western leaders of the Third Crusade. There is more to the story than that though making it more than simple historical adventure it first seems. Since it's developed by many of the same team behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, it's no surprise to find the game using many of the same ideas. With the bold claim that you can climb on or over anything in the game world that sticks out more than two inches, this allows incredible freedom of movement, with a style of acrobatics heavily influenced by Parkour/free running. The game also innovates in terms of combat, with each of the face buttons controlling a different area of the body, rather like a marionette. As such one button controls the feet, one your open hand, one your weapon hand and the other your head. As an assassin stealth plays an important role in the game too, but here it's often a case of hiding in plain sight as you mill around inside large crowds of people. Everyone will react to you realistically though, so if you go around pushing people out of the way, or even killing them, the crowd will react and report you.  Rating:  - Visually stunning but got a bit repetitive.Like many reviewers, I loved the visual part of this game. A lot of minor details which make up the cities and characters make this look stunning. The assassin himself has a number of moves which look realistic. so 5 out of 5 for the visual aspect of this game. However I found the idea of constantly pickpocketing, eavesdropping to name but two objectives, repetitive and not very challenging. By the time I had got to the 5th assassination of 9, I was getting a little bored with the same routine. Thankfully this game was saved by the ending which again was well put together, albeit predictable who was going to be the assassin's last victim ! Rating:  - Assassin's Creed (PS3)the game it self is good there is to much running about to get to a gateway , the worst thing is the game 80% of the time works then crashes i would not recommend playing it unless you have the time to keep loadiing and starting the game again Rating:  - Long Term Investment - Little Reward....As a massive fan of the prince of persia titles, this at first glance offered an extremely detailed and wide world to explore. I wont waste time running over the good and bad points in detail as others have done this very well already. I will simply focus on the fact that the game has no challenge in terms of difficulty, even if you screw up a mission you have little chance of being killed because the fight system is so basic to master. once you have gained a bit of experience and some of the better skills you are basically unstoppable. Good stealth titles like 'splinter cell' and even 'man hunt' have you slaughtered instantly if you are seen, so for me the stealth element was completely lost. But with the world so vast and quiet, ... Read More: Rating:  - Fun in places, but so repetitive it's just stupidFirstly, the graphics are good, no denying that But if you want to pay £40 for a game and have fun do not buy this game. Basically do the first mission and all of the other missions are the same after that. There is also the way that it takes about half an hour to get to the actual assassination and all of the dull investigation work to be done before that. Some fun bits of the game are ruined by the boring repetitiveness of the whole game. Rating:  - Not a game....an experience!!!!I love this game....it looks great visually, the movements are amazing. Even the music adds to it all...exploring the cities you can almost taste the dust! There is a lot of critism on the gameplay, but hats off to the developers for doing something completely different. I have never played anything like this before...the closest thing I can think of is KOTOR....? People say the game is repetitive, but what game isn't? All FPS games are by their nature. All the assassination victims killings are different and you need different approach stategies to complete them. My only worry is AC2 will be more of the same, as how can you expand an Assassins lifestyle in the Crusades period out anymore???? |
