 Rating:  - Buy an (up to date) shark documentary insteadAlthough the age of the children that this toy is aimed at means that they are not likely to understand it's meaning, it is unequivocal that this toy promotes an image of sharks as 'the villain'. Shark populations have declined by 80% in the last 15 years alone. They are endangered animals. The film 'Jaws' had such a negative effect on peoples view of sharks- now Matchbox have repeated the offence by bringing them more undeserved bad press. I'm not saying don't buy it, i'm just saying please don't let this be the only 'education' about sharks for your children. Rating:  - Fantastic ToyA great versatile ship that can be made into a myriad of combinations. The shark is great fun, he can eat the men and then you can rescue them from a slit in its tomach. Its well made, solid, and even floats in the bath! My 5 year old hasnt left it alone for over 3 weeks. Rating: - Great funThis is the toy our 4 year old son has played with most this Christmas. It comes apart and he can use his imagination to make any number of different boats. This isn't a two minute wonder - it keeps going as long as their imagination does. Highly recommended Rating: - Ethically sound? its a TOY!Well, my son is 4 on Thursday and i have absolutely no problem giving him this great toy, i doubt very much whether he will see a shark in his lifetime unless he goes looking and i think the chances of him going into professional shark hunting or even whaling are slim to none. Rating:  - Its a toy ?!?!?The first 2 reviewers, this is a toy, kids playing with it aint all going to decide to become shark hunters and go around slaughtering sharks, my nephew has a fascination with sharks (he is only 4) and he loves watching documentaries about the great white, so a shark toy is great for him, he plays with the shark more than anything and not once have I seen him yank it up by its tail on the boat, more often than not he is putting people in the sharks mouth ! lol |
