 Rating:  - Somewhat dodgeyThis game does at first seem to be a decent upgrade on the previous football manager...more in-depth gameplay, such as being able to choose what type of feeder club you want (after having been at the club for a while) which is great for boosting your finances, and much more. For all this I would have given it a four or even five stars. BUT, there are those odd moments, which seem to be more prevalent than in the previous games. Now, in reality, there are numerous times when a team that has more shots on target loses. But when you've lost for the sixth time in a season when you've had as many as thirty shots ON target to the oponents three, it can get quite frustrating. Read More: Rating:  - Still my favourite waste of timeI've been playing these games since they introduced the 2D match engine back in CM4 (don't get confused - the real Championship Manager of old is made by Sports Interactive and it's this one). FM2008 does seem much harder than previous games and it's been more of a gargantuan task to take the mighty Stockport County to European glory. Sometimes you get the impression that the AI just won't let you win certain games, no matter what tactics you try (and it's best to pay attention to detailed tactics and save your own versions, rather than relying on the presets). The last game I bought was 2006 there is now a nice touch with negotiation in transfers but it has always been a great game and has refined itself over the years. All the latest players and stats updated- while away the hours with this addictive game. For example, usuallly when your three up with 10 minutes to go and the 3 points look secured, the other team usually scores four or five, and on the rare occasions six, leaving you wondering " why did i buy this piece of C*A* ?" this does not deter from the fun however, and apart from that, its a really realistic game. the 1 excuse for for that though, is the transfer budgets. Remember last season or this season in this game? man utd spent 50 million pounds on players. The first thing i'd say is it is really hard! it takes a long time to get used to most stuff, and i feel if you haven't played a Football manager game before you'd be best just sticking to the basics. I feel the hardest bit about the game is transfers, it is so hard to sign people!!! and if your a lower league club you've simpley got no chance. Overall it is a great manager game, better the Fifa manager? not sure. It's extreamley realistic, i'd say the only thing missing is real club badges and player pictures for higher clubs etc. I'd say a 4 star, not 5 star just yet. |
