Editorial Review:
Amazon.co.uk Review: Based on the best-selling novel from Cecelia Ahern, P.S. I Love You is far more than the standard chick flick that it may first appear to be. Relocating the novel from Ireland to America, multiple Oscar-winner Hilary Swank stars as the young woman who has recently lost her husband. And yet amidst her grief, she discovers a series of letters that he’s written to help. These letters give her certain things she has to do, to help her move on with her life.
It’s not a completely clean adaptation of the book, and yet P.S. I Love You has more than enough in its tank to qualify as a good, quality bona fide weepy. Swank in particular is a terrific actress, and delivers another worthy performance here. Credit too to Gerard Butler (Phantom Of The Opera, 300) for his work as her late husband.
The film does have a few problems. It meanders a little, and its running time could use a little pruning. Yet nonetheless P.S. I Love You is a well made, engaging drama, and likely to be responsible for a fair bit of blubbing among its target audience by the time the credits roll. Worth a look. --Jon Foster
Synopsis: P.S. I Love You, based on the Cecilia Ahern novel of the same name, tells the story of a young widow who discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.
Synopsis: Based on Cecilia Ahern's novel, P.S. I LOVE YOU stars Oscar winner Hilary Swank (MILLION DOLLAR BABY) as a broken-hearted widow. After the death of her husband, she discovers a series of letters from him that help her in her grief.

I am a big fan of cecilia ahern so i had read the book of p.s i love you so when i heard the film was coming out i got exited because the book was amazing. I read a review saying that the film was realy sad and to have tisues ready and i thought well the book was amazing so obviously the film wil not be beter, how wrong could i be. Ididnt prepare with any tisues and i watched this on my own and icryed from the start o finish. For people who do not like this film and on one review it says its a ridiculous film they are very wrong and just hve a heart of stone. The Irish acent were a bit poor but that did not effect the amazing story line and the emotion atatched to this. Gerry and Holly are a typical couple who argue and make up over sily things, ... Do knock it and what ever you do dont try it!
This film is awful. I bought it for my GF (cause im a thoughtul guy )to watch as like most women she loves Romcoms and I thought this would suit her down to the ground.
Hillary swank and Gerard Butler are about as delightful a couple as Margaret Thatcher and David Beckham and their acting is as stale as my crusty socks. I cringed at many of the supposed sentimental scenes between the two main actors in this film and so did my GF. And if anybodies heartstrings are being tugged at in this film, please contact your local emergency services as you are more than likely having a heart attack. But jokes aside, this film lacks even a remote amount of emotion.
The irish accents ... Read More:

I saw this movie for the first time tonight. Having not read the book I didn't know entirely what to expect.
I laughed and I cried. This movie in my opinion is one of the best chick flicks out there. I totally loved it.
The only thing that didn't work for me was Lisa Kudrow (from the series friends). I just felt that I didn't feel her part in the movie. She is the only criticism I have of it. But that is just my opinion.

Firstly the accents...so terrible that they take way too long to get used to.
Secondly the storyline... I understand that it could be seen as romantic and all but to be it is simply creepy
I know I am not part of the target audience but i had to give my opinion... it is that bad.
The only redeeming factor is Lisa Kudrow (Phoebie from Friends) who gives an outstanding and hilarious performance.

Well first off i know i'm not exactly part of the target audience for this film, but i have been known to enjoy the odd "Chick Flick" now and again.
I'd heard that the book was really good and having seen the cast list i decided it would be a nice film to watch with the love of my life on a sunday afternoon...
The credits rolled and the film starts off with Holly (the normally excellent Hillary Swank) and Gerry (Lady eye candy - Gerard Butler) embroiled in a fight..
Awful, terrible and shockingly bad Irish accent from Butler and absolutely no hint of chemistry at all between the two of them.
Anyway we move on, and the obvious happens, the guy dies and we're at the wake. Swanks performance improves from ... Read More:
