Like many with a proudly misspent youth plus a few genetic factors and in my early 50s, I suffer from high frequency hearing loss, meaning that I have to wear digital hearing aids (I find the clunky NHS ones are by far the best, having tried 2 private in-ear ones. The clunkyness is actually good - shows people you've got a problem, so they speak more clearly). When I listen to the radio in bed, however, this is a real problem, because I can't wear the hearing aids when I expect to fall asleep, and yet, without their use, I have to have the radio turned up high and it sounds fuzzy because I get too much bass even with the radio's trebble turned on.
