All said and done the actual format of the THPS games can never change that much, they are limited to the confines of a skateboard afterall, However, Activision (the team behind the games) always manages to give each competitor in the series a fresh outlook. This might be new tricks, hidden unlockables, more levels, skaters etc. This time around they have really gone all out on changing the format.

Gone is the standard level to level progression you have come to expect so now enters the all new "story mode".
