FreeLogix - White iPod Cassette Adaptor - for iPod & MP3 Players

I purchased 2 FreeLogix adaptors: both my wife's and mine needed replacing at the same time.
Neither FreeLogix adaptor worked - I tried them both on 5 cars at the office.
The mechanism just jammed (even when winding with a finger or pencil), so the cassette player just kept turning over and over.
I unscrewed the cassettes and removed the turning mechanism, so they then worked. BUT the sound quality is very poor - booming and full of bass with no treble. It's like listening with your ears full of water.
The previous adaptors that we used sounded much better (both different makes), but the sound kept cutting out due to wear and tear on the cable.
