Merlin [1998]starring: Sam Neill, Helena Bonham Carter, Miranda Richardson, John Gielgud, Martin Short directed by: Steve Barron May 30, 2007 Having only just watched this film for the first time last night I was intrigued to see what others had written about it because for me it was a real mixed bag. To my shame I didn't really know the story of Merlin and King Arthur etc so was interested to watch from a factual point of view and my toddler did get up in the middle of it all and wandered about making lots of noise so it was difficult to follow everything (must watch again) but the story was really really good, very gripping and some of the acting was excellent particulary from Jason Done (who again to my shame I have never heard of) who played Mordred, King Arthur's illegitimate child and he brought a real edge and genuine comedy to the film.
