- Totally amazing.
I loved this book.
I have many favorite books but this one ranks above them all. It has been a while since I have read a book which kept me enthralled from the first chapter. The author writes in such a way in which you never know what is going to happen next and the twists and turns keep you entertained throughout.
I felt that I traveled through the book with the characters and felt both their pain and happiness.
This is a must read.

I couldn't agree more with reader Holly, absolutely thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down, a real eye opener and thought provoking. It made me so much more culturally aware and sympathetic towards other ethnic backgrounds. Have already recommended to several people. I think the author is brilliant!

I take along time to read books, but it took me only a few days. This is such a brilliant, powerful and compelling novel. I urge everyone to read it. It really made me think of other cultures and how lucky we are with the choices we have. A must read!

Perhaps this is a book to read quickly, as I had to, for a book group discussion. But it's easy to read quickly, as the story is told very simply and in a largely linear manner (which can be a relief, when so many novels are written in complicated ways). It gives some extraordinary - and some alarming - insights into man/woman prejudices and assumptions in an alien country. The end seems rather contrived, I agree, but the overall impression of the book certainly lingers in the memory. If this had come out before The Kite Runner, I think it would still have made Hosseini's name famous.

I was engrossed in this book, until part two when the story left the main characters, only to change emphasis to other characters. Although this was necessary for the whole story, I feel it was too sudden, and I skipped a lot of the book just to get back to the original characters.
