A thoroughly moving book which had my heart in my throat as I read the last 100 pages. A beautifully written book which takes the reader on a journey through the troubled polictical history of Afganistan as experienced by two woman thrown together in the most harrowing of circumstance.

I was thoroughly hooked on this book. It is beautifully written. Without giving too much away though, I thought the ending all a bit 'tidy'... still worth the read but wish the ending hadn't been so convenient!

I couldn't put this book down. It is a wonderful moving story of 2 womens lives and of those around them in war torn Afghanistan, and at times Khaled Hosseni's writing reduced me to tears as I empathised so much with the main characters.
If you only read 1 book this year this is perfect I'd recommend it to anybody!

A Thousand Splendid Suns is every bit as good as Khaled Hosseini's last offering The Kite Runner. The plotting, characters and writing are all of the highest order, and it was a shame to finish this one. Worth buying because you'll probably want to read it more than once.

I read this straight on the back of Kite runner, expecting it to deliver much the same after reading the reviews. After reaching the half way mark and thinking it could never match it, it turned and yes another hit by Khaled Hoisseini. Sad, happy, all those emotions needed from a book are delivered and them some.
