- Great Story
This book provides you with an insight into a world that most people will never experience. The fact that people are still forced into marriages with someone that they barely know is frightening. This book reveals more savage tales from Afghanistan and would have you believe that Hosseini has witnessed some truly brutal scenes in his youth. Buy this book if you liked The Kite Runner.
Rating: - So Powerful and Captivating
I have recommended reading this book to so many people. It is so powerful and captivating. At the page where the little girl shows so much grace before being taken to the orphanage, my heart sank and I had to read the rest of the book there and then, I could not put it down.
As well as a very powerful story, this book also demonstrates the core problems of Afghanistan in its struggle to become a contemporary country amongst the world community.

This book is simply one word- Amazing. The way Khalid is able to draw upon ideas of what it is like to be a Muslism wife and the hardships that "some" face is quite poignant. It is a sad story and one that no doubt will make you think, but I highly recommend it and i am sure you won't put it down.Brilliant
Rating: - Suns of Kite?
I picked up this book and its companion, Kite Runner, quite randomly when I was looking for material to sustain long train journeys - I could not have been better served. Hosseini's writing is concise, whilst at the same time conveying a rich detail of the scenes portrayed. Some reviews complain about the indistinguishable characters of Laila and Mariam, but I dont agree - the whole point is that they start out as very different, but gradually merge into a synergistic maternal presence in the household.
I appreciated the restraint used on the violent scenes and overall enjoyed the journey through both novels Suns & Kite Runner. I see no reason why we shouldnt be reading about Hosseini's "dynasty of characters" in future novels - it will be worth the wait - please keep writing!

An amazing book. Centred around 2 women, who initially loathe each other, the story takes you through the ordeal that some women have to endure. The idea that, for some wives, there is no escape is inconceivable, but is brought to reality in this book. A great book, that leaves you grieving. Would definitely recommend it.
