- One of the greatest games XD
I read a bad review for this, and couldn't believe the points the reviewer made - they can all be explained =p.
First off - The game is so strategic - the point is not to be seen by a bad guy, unless you have an escape route figured. That's what makes it so clever.
Secondly, the humour? It was like, 11 years ago lol - so it's not that modern, but still makes you smile. And besides, the voices alone are enough to make you giggle - just listen to them say 'hello' XD.
You do die after getting shot once by a Slig (enemy), but if you possess a Slig, you find Sligs also die from one shot. Not to mention, there are numerous continue points and you have infinite lives.
Honestly, this game is so much more clever than hundreds of more modern games these days. You'll get past the graphics - all that really bothers you is that the Mudokons are a little bit blurry, but they're always moving, so it doesn't bother you much.
The designs of Rupture Farms (the factory the slaves are working in) are absolutely gorgeous. And someone said that whenever they got shot it made them jump - it really does! You get so into the game that everytime you die - (EVERY time, whether you're shot or you explode, etc.) - you jump, or gasp. After getting over the surprise, it makes you laugh that you were so into it, and it makes it so much more exciting.
It can get a little frustrating if you're not sure what to do - but that's what walkthroughs are for.
Just go to Youtube and search 'Abe's Oddysee Walkthrough' and you can watch the game be played. It's even interesting to watch.
Honestly, I downloaded a demo, and it was so much fun to do and try and figure out how to finish a level and save the other Mudokons. I only got to play one level on the demo, but I can't wait to buy the full game.
It's very logical, the cover artwork is beautiful (just admire the detail that went into the drawing of Abe's head - it's quite incredible, considering I don't think they could have done that with the computer graphics they had 11 years ago).
Play it and you'll understand. It really is worth 5 stars. Maybe even 7 or something XD.
It captures the ominous atmosphere perfectly, and it's so exhilerating, you won't want to stop playing.
I wouldn't recommend this for children, though. The picture on the front used to give me nightmares when I was young =p.

Abe's oddeysee is the best platform game you can get it's brilliant.the grafics are great and the gamespeak is really good you can talk to fellow mudokons and lead to their destination.
This game is not easy to start with their are many tasks to go through and many hidden places around rapturefarms. In order to save enough people to complete these games finding the hidden rooms is best as you need to save at least 50 mudokons to survive the game at the end if you don't you do die and have to start all over again.
I say the absolute best think about this game is you have infinity lives you can not die during the game which is brilliant coz,if you die it don't matter you just carry on from where you died or at you last check point which could be any where as you don't know where the check points are until you die.
This game takes alot of work and alot of time so make sure have a memory card to save it as if you get along way through the game with no memory card it can get pretty frustrating if you have to start back at the beginning.
I SAY TAKE THE TIME AND ENJOY THIS GAME IT'S VERY ADDICTIVE AND GOOD LUCK!!!

Watch a friend foul up before attempting yourself, getting to the end and then making a fool of yourself by falling of a cliff, hilarious!

This game is more than just a game it is a perfect example of a fantantic game.The 'scrabs'(an animal on the game)are like real creatures Creepy and foul. It is like you are in a mysticle world. The graphics are perfect.There is no doubt about ODD WORLD RULES because of the story line.

Abe's Oddworld lives up to its name. Initally the game appears to be completely without reason, however as you learn new tricks, pick-up clues and begin to realise the point of the game you are transfixed. It took my wife & I several weeks to complete the game (with the help of a walkthrough only once!) and it has got to be one of the BEST platform games ever! There are elements of skill, strategy, shoot to kill and stealth involved so everyone should find something to their liking. Buy it, you WILL NOT be disappointed. The graphics are great, even for a PS One.
